Welcome to the forum.

Before starting - PLEASE make sure you have system restore running and a good system restore point to go back to (even if you create one now) in case something goes wrong during the cleanup and fix. (and they do!)
XP system restore

Even if you have these programs on your system, pleaese UPDATE and run them.
Let me know of anything that can't be cleaned.

To start the clean-up process:

Download and run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button and let it run and fix what it finds.

Next…..

Download and run SpyBot

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.
Reboot……….

6. Select "Search for low-risk threats"
7. Run the scanner using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.
8. When the scan has completed, select Next.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
3. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
5. Run Ewido Security Suite — Do a "Complete System Scan"
Let it clean all files

OK - lets do this for alt.exe.

Please find this file and upload it
HERE for a free scan - let me know the results.
C:\WINDOWS\alt.exe

Next for the browsela.dll

Download win32delfkil.exe HERE
Save it on your desktop.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe and install it. This creates a new folder on your desktop: win32delfkil
Close all windows, open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.
Follow the prompts. It will tell you to shut down your system with the power button, so please do so, because this is with a reason.
Restart your computer afterwards.

Close ALL programs down, leaving ONLY HijackThis running - Click Scan and…..
Place a check against the following items:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: browsela - C:\WINDOWS\system32\browsela.dll

FindFast and OSA.EXE are resource hogs and not needed at start up.

For FindFast - check the link below to disable it.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?…B;en-us;q158705
For OSA.exe - just have HJT fix it.

O4 - Startup: Microsoft Find Fast.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.EXE
O4 - Startup: Office Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log and we'll take another look. MrC

Also how can i improve the speed of my comp it's so slow!! and sometimes virtual memory is really low!! It's so annoying ! Thanks.
The log looks OK. Good JoB

I'm not XP operating system expert so I suggest you post the question in this part of the forum:

http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showforum=83

You also might do a GoogleSearch using
low virtual memory

—————————–

There's a couple of things to try though:

These are not needed at start-up, you can fix them using HJT and see how it is.
You can always restore them using HJT backups if needed.

Delete all the temp files on the system:

Open C:\Windows\Prefetch\ Delete ALL files in this folder.

Go to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED PROFILE USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

To clean up any files missed……..

Download and run CCleaner
Just Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".
