IE Homepage reverts to Andrewlinks.net

Andrelinks.net always returns as my Internet Explorer homepage no matter how many times I change it. My Spybot S&D also gets stuck after a few seconds. Hope you can find what causes this from my HTL below.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, Hijack This will launch. Close Hijack This, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new Hijack This log.

Thanks for yout time LDTate. Something wrong must've happened. There were no other prompts after the program began and it took only a couple of seconds. I was never asked to reboot either but do you want me to run Hijack This anyway? Below is the report: Check for missing files ….. C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT not there ….. if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."…then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

Sorry but none of those options ware available and there were no error message. I ran the program and the dos prompt came up requesting me to press any key to continue. I did and after a second or two the text report came out which I posted in my previous email.

I think that did it. Fixwareout removed a bunch of files and they are now in the recycle bin. Should I empty it out? Here are the contents of both Fixwareout and HTL:

use Add/Remove Programs and remove:
Viewpoint Manager

Did everything you asked except for deleting this: "O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\\ViewMgr.exe". I am assuming that's because I removed the "Viewpoint Manager" before I ran Hijack This.

The computer seems to be behaving normally again except for some occasional spam email I receive from my wife's email account. This started happening about 2 weeks ago and something is re-directing the junk she receives to my email and hopefully it is just being sent to me instead of everyone in her address book. Do you think everything that was found and deleted corrected this problem? Below is the log you requested.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK




If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.
