Pop Ups

This may seem a very naive question but is there any way to stop annoying pop ups from occuring when I surf the net? The pop ups that take over the screen and cannot be deleted are particularly offensive. Any enlightenment would be much appreciated.

I use google toolbar to block pop ups.. Give it a try.
