A family member gave my daughter a laptop computer for her school work but upon giving it to us she said that it had been infected with malware in the past. Before I allow my 8th grader to start using the computer I thought I'd post my HJT log to see if anyone sees anything that may be a lingering problem. Thanks for your help.

Does everything look ok?
Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. I see no malware in the HJT log. You have some good programs in Microsoft AntiSpyware and Spybot though TeaTimer can be a bit hard to get used to. AVG is a good free program, here is a link if you ever need help since there is no support for the free version:
http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/index.php?0 Here is some good information: http://www.pcpitstop.com/spycheck/know.asp

I don't care for HJT being run from the Desktop, it can be dangerous in untrained hands. Even though we will not be using it this time, I suggest you put it here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. That way you know how to get to it and it is unlikely anyone else will. If you leave it on the Desktop it does need a folder.
I really see no problems with what is installed, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

If I can be of any additional help, let me know.

Thanks…pskelley

Thanks pskelley. Since my daughter will be using the computer I think I'll stick all of the anti-spyware programs into something other than the desktop. She doesn't know how to use them. Thanks again.
Hi Dad, having two daughters of my own, I can appreciate your concern. Perhaps you could make a folder on the Desktop and call it say "Security" and move the shortcuts for the programs in it. You should start thinking about showing her how to use the tools. Here is some information:

Lot's more information available via a http://www.google.com/ if you need it.

Safe surfing and have great holidays…Phil
