I have also updated Java to update 11 and installed windows defender, will the AVG anti spyware run along side this, or should one of them be disabled? and also installed kerio firewall instead of the standard windows one..spywareblaster will be installed at the next session..
And once again ,many thanks for your time on this :)
Hello lostinapc :D

Sorry for the delay :(

I have also updated Java to update 11 and installed windows defender, will the AVG anti spyware run along side this, or should one of them be disabled? and also installed kerio firewall instead of the standard windows one..spywareblaster will be installed at the next session..

Good :) All those programs protect your computer :) You can disable AVG anti-spyware if you want:
  • Open AVG Anti-Spyware
  • On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
  • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
  • Click on Change state next to Automatic updates. It should now change to inactive.
Kaspersky online scanner works only with IE!

Please run an online scanner with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

    o Scan Options:

    + Scan Archives
    + Scan Mail Bases

  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Hi Markka, Sorry for the delay in replying to you, but as i said, this computer is a long way away from me (over 100 miles). I haven't been able to travel down there yet, but i tried to get her to run the a kaspersky scan and a panda scan over the phone, however she can't get the scans to run, i think that windows settings are stopping her accessing the page, or maybe her pop up stopper is killing it. It could be quite a while before i manage to get near this computer, so it may be an idea to close this thread for now, when I do get on it again, if there are any problems i can post a new topic. I would like to thank you for all your help in this matter, the computer is running a lot better now and i have now joined the MRU, so hopefully i may be able to continue your fine work, once again many thanks… :wavey:
