[SNP]

Hi. My browser is acting very weird. It crashes frequently and pages won't load and my history won't work correctly. When I try to open a few pages at once it freezes (which it never used to do). It's acting like a previous time when I had spyware so I am very worried that I have it again. If someone could look at my hijackthis log I'd be so grateful. Thank you so much. Download, unzip and run 'RootkitRevealer' from Sysinternals:

Once the program has started, press Scan and let it run.
When the scan is done, use 'File > Save' to place the logfile in a convenient location (such as the desktop). The default filename will be 'RootkitReveal.txt'.

Copy/Paste the contecnts of that logfile into your next reply

Click start > control panel > user accounts > change the way users log on or off > uncheck fast user switching > restart you computor.
To prevent as many False Positives 's from happening, and therefore causing lots of head scratching etc, it's wise to do the following -
Physically unplug the cable from the PC to the internet connection, and then you can move on to the next stage Safely.
Close down All Scheduling/Updating + Running Background tasks etc.
Launch + run RR and then do NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !
Save your Log File, and then Enable those things you closed down, or Reboot, and ONLY then Reconnect to the Internet.
That way you should have a much simpler and clearer log file in which to peruse and evaluate.

The logfile said: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime\Installed Files\Ü¡f 8/14/2005 8:11 PM 0 bytes Key name contains embedded nulls (*) Is that anything bad? I've installed some additional software lately. Maybe that is making it run more slowly and crash sometimes. Thanks so much for looking at my logfile. I really appreciate it.

Do you have more than one user log in on the computer?

You are running HJT from a temporary file or desktop we will be cleaning out all of you temp. files latter you will need to make a new folder for HijackThis. Instructions can be found here.

Hi. Thank you so much for your help. I made a new folder for Hijack This. Last week I had someone else using my computer and set up another user account so they could log in. But I deleted that account a few days after they used it.

I ran a new HiJackThis scan. I will post the log just in case. Thank you so much again for your help.

Well you had a look2 me. before.

Please download Ewido Security Suite it is a trial version of the program.

• Install ewido security suite
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Then click on Start Update

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

Copy and paste the report here.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the first file you want to zip.
Right click on the file and select Send To and Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Please upload the zip file if you can if you can't then upload the the files without zipping. here

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I tried to send it through my Yahoo e-mail account as a zipped file but it says that the file is infected with a virus and that it will not attach the file. Should I try to send it another way or should I just go through and run that Ewido security suite again and then delete the file? Thanks so much for the help.

Run it and delete it sure it is bad.

I ran it and deleted that file. I ran it twice more and it said that there are no infected files anymore. I also ran CleanUp to delete my temporary files. Everything seems to be working ok now.
