Good evening,

After clicking into a bad site several weeks ago, I got a websearch toolbar installed and apparently some other lovely files as well. I have Norton AntiVirus installed and am running XP. Between Norton and AdAware, I have identified several unusual .dll files. I forget the name of the first one, but I had to go into the cmd window to delete it from C:/WINDOWS/DOWNLO~1/CONFLICT1 folder. The next dll to be detected by the software was called ckcisrvr.dll which I had to boot in safe mode to remove. The latest was Dc1.dll which I found referenced in the 'solved logs' forum.

I followed the advice there and downloaded and ran CWShredder, then Spybot, then Adaware (rebooting in between). I ran Norton again...and everything comes up clean. I also cleared my temporary internet files, but the pop-ups do not stop. Even switching to Mozilla Firefox hasn't worked.

Oh well, here's my log. Thanks for helping out.

Hello Stevee737, Welcome to the forum.

Important: Do this before any fix.

You need to update your version of HijackThis. Open HJT> Open Misc Tools> Pull the side bar down> Check for update online. If that doesn't work, download it from my signature and remove the hijackThis.exe you have now.

Also please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

After the above:

This is what I suggest you do.

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Go here and run at least one of the online scans, allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.4 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.06 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

1. Launch Ad-Aware SE and run the WebUpdate feature. (Click on the Globe icon > Click connect > Click OK > Click Finish.)
2. Set up the Configurations as follows:
-- Click the Gear wheel at the top of the Ad-Aware window
-- Click General > Safety & Settings: Check (Green) all three.
-- Click Tweak > Cleaning Engine > UNcheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion".
3. Click "Proceed"
4. Click "Scan Now"
5. Deselect "Search for negligible risk entries" as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
6. Select "Search for low-risk threats"
7. Run the scanner using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.
8. When the scan has completed, select Next.
9. In the Scanning Results window, select the "Scan Summary" tab.
10. Check the box next to each "target family" you wish to remove.
11. Click next > Click OK.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thanks, I had missed a few details, updates and such. I believe that I'm well on my way to having a clean computer. Before this, a group of pop-ups continued to plague my online surfing. I'm still a little concerned by the presence of 2 running processes named ccapp.exe. One is from Norton/Symantec, the other from liutilities.com, which I don't believe I installed knowingly.

There are 2 profiles saved for Windows, and one of them was significantly slower in performance than the other. I haven't run all the updated software in both profiles yet, but here is the log for mine.

After an AdAware scan and a SpyBot scan my computer would continuously re-populate itself with data miners and data loggers, and the same SpyWare and pop-ups would show up over and over.

On the other (not mine) Windows profile, I have recieved warnings that Norton AutoProtect had been disabled. SCARY>

Thank you for your help, I would've had to re-format this computer, or scrap it and buy another one.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan and let it clean everything it finds. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

The forum is run by volunteers who donate their time and expertise.

I suggest you do this:

You need To disable TeaTime, until we have the PC clean.

1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected

Thanks for the patience, my wife and I just brought home our first baby. Been a little tied up.
While fiddling around, I deleted a folder called Modio and PC Health. I noticed that you asked me not to, later. Sorry if this causes any confusion.

Under my profile, no problems, but when loading the other profile, I still get a Windows Security Alert that says that my computer may be unprotected because Norton Auto-Protect has been disabled. I don't get the message everytime, and Norton loads immediately after, with auto-protect enabled so this puzzles me.

Here is the log:

I suggest you do this:

Sun Java has updated to remove 5 known critical issue.

It is important to remove older versions as these are the ones with the holes in them. You will be surprised when you go to add/remove to see all of the versions sitting there.

Download Newest >>>> Sun Java

Once installed you can test to see that it is in fact installed >>>>

Sun Java Test

Sun Microsystems has fixed five security bugs in Java that expose computers running Linux, Solaris and Windows to hacker attack.

use Add/Remove Programs and remove:
Viewpoint Manager

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BJCFD] C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
