Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

l2mfix.exe ( Shadowwar)

l2mfix.exe ( Shadowwar)

Save the file to your desktop and <double-click> l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

<double-click> l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing <enter>.

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log.

Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Here are my HijackThis log and Vundofix.txt files.

Please note that I was not able to find the following entry to put a check mark next to it:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ljjkj.dll

I was able to successfully delete C:\WINDOWSsystem32\opppp.dll file also.

Just a little cleanup left.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Click on Options, Settings.
  • In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
  • Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
  • Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
  • After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ljjkj.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {702EA91C-1ACF-4772-8078-18F2B2EE1031} - (no file)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ljjkj - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ljjkj.dll (file missing)

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot, and you're "good to go".

GOD bless you!!!

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?"

Download/install IE-Spyad

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings at Qualsys.com

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.

Hello Micah_6:8,

Here is my latest HijackThis File. God Bless you for taking the time to help me rid of winfix.

My registry seems to be clean and the infected files seem to have been deleted. I am not getting any popups anymore.

Hope it stays the same.

Once again, thanks a million and GOD Bless you!

Sincerely,

I. Kalota

Hello Mach_6:8.

With your guidelines and steps I performed on my computer, the WinFix popups have definitely disappeared so far. But the Search the Web, and AntiVirus 2006 and some Casino related popups are still appearing. I thought we did take care of them when we were cleaning up. Not sure If I missed some steps or what.

Here is my current HijackThis Log: I will greatly appreciate your help in getting rid of these popups:

Thanks.

Please download and run Spybot-Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware; they are the standard programs for finding and cleaning malware off your system. Here are links to both programs, and instructions for their use.

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy from Spybot Search and Destroy
(This is the NEW Version 1.4)
Get AdAware SE Personal from Lavasoft
(This is the NEW Build 1.6)

Download and install these programs if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED here:

Configure Adaware

Configure Spybot

Reboot after running each program.

Try this online virus scan:

Trend-Micro Housecall

Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.

Let it remove any infections found.

Reboot.

Let me know if the pop-ups persist.

I tried both of thee softwares in safe mode, and both these programs found and removed quite a few bad entries. But I still keep getting some advertisement pop ups, some times an ad popup is completely blank and has nothng in it not even a title name. Some of th popups appear minimized, and I ususally right click on them and close them. while other popups open up and then I have to x out of them. There are three users on my machine, It seems like SPYBOT only runs for current user. I had to run it three times. Is there a way to make it scan the entire machine just like AD-AWARE for all users. The Good News is that the annoying Winfixer is GONE........... Do you think I should post my HIjack log for your review? Thanks.

Hello Ishaq Kalota,

Micah_6:8 will be offline for a few days. I'll see if I can help.

Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from Here

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)

Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system. If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so immediately. This is a necessary step to kill the infection!

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

Exit Spy Sweeper.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HJT log as well as the Resullts from Spy Sweeper file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
