Hi. My Pentium 4 with a gig of RAM isn't going fast enough for me. It's getting pretty sluggish so I suspect it's clogged with malware. I run Ad-Aware Professional, Spybot S&D, Norton Internet Security AntiSpyware Edition and sometimes run a Kaspersky scan online just incase Norton's missed anything.

Norton comes up clean (Spyware/Adware and Viruses)

Ad-Aware comes up clean

Spybot comes up clean

Panda Activescan comes up clean

Kaspersky scan comes up clean

Counterspy detected the bundler imesh installed when I was trying it out 6 months ago.

Here's my HijackThis log (anything bittorrent related is not there on purpose):

Hello and welcome to the forums. We have been pretty busy here lately.

Please run HijackThis and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entries:
O18 - Protocol: bt2 - {1730B77B-F429-498F-9B15-4514D83C8294} - (no file)
O18 - Filter: application/x-bt2 - {6E1DDCE8-76BC-4390-9488-806E8FB1AD77} - (no file)

Close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" to have HijackThis fix the entries you checked.

Thanks for looking at my log. I removed the entries you said. I'm not sure if you need to see a fresh log but here's one anyway.

Ok, that log looks fine. Did you uncheck entries in the msconfig startup utility?

Nope. All I've ever had running at startup is Spyware Doctor, NIS and my LAN Connection. Spyware Doctor is a recent purchase though...

You have very few items in your O4 section, which is not really odd, but it's been a while since I have seen such a short one. Can you click on Start --> Run, then type in msconfig and hit OK. Check the startup tab to see if any items are not checked there.

No, it's supposed to be like that. I disabled most of the unneccesary stuff for faster bootup. It really makes a difference...

I understand that it makes a difference, but there might be malware in there that I would not see in the HJT log if you had it disabled. Please re-enable all entries in the startup tab, then reboot and post a new HJT log.

Do you use Bitdefender and F-Secure as on-demand scanners? They don't appear to be running resident.

Nah...that's all old stuff. I used to be obsessed with security and I've installed almost every app possible. I noticed they were doing more harm than good...slowing my computer to a crawl...so I uninstalled everything...bought Norton Internet Security and Spyware Doctor and I've been all the safer and faster for it. That was a few months ago though. The reason they're still showing up in my log is because I hit "enable all" in msconfig. Sadly, when they uninstall, it doesn't remove the entry for there... My realtime is Norton Auto-Protect and Spyware Doc's OnGuard. I've got Spybot installed by I don't like TeaTimer. I've got Ad-Aware Pro's Ad-Watch...but all that seems to do is alert me every time I run a registry purge with CCleaner.

Ok, well let's remove the entries then. Make sure SD, TeaTimer and Ad-watch are disabled and use HJT to remove those entries. Then, reboot and post a new HJT log.
