I am just about to throw my computer in the bin, but alas,
I found this site:

Problem is ads1.revenue popups and searchbar popup problems.

I have made a log file, and can do the startup log if you require.

  • Double-click My Computer.
  • Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.

  • Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Delete the following folders:

Save this as findjobs.bat, choose to save it as *all files* and place it on your desktop.

Doubleclick on findjobs.bat and post the content of the textfile you get in your next reply.

Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread. Include the results of findjobs.

Okay I have just got as far as delete the two folders. The first one was called 'download upload'. it is empty and i deleted The next one is called 'flaw mpeg' . I cannot delete this as it says is a system folder. it contains the files 'Owns Beep.exe' and '11CEC858' (system file). Afew seconds after I tried to delete Owns Beep.exe, my system shield informed me that it had requested to run at startup. i clicked deny once. have not run the bat file, as i want to do the items you prescribe in the order you put them thankyou, boopolo

Reboot the computer into Safe Mode (tap F8 during bootup, use arrow keys to select Safe Mode, then hit 'enter'). Now try to delete the flaw mpeg folder.

If you still can not delete it let me know. Go ahead and run the bat file and post the results in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.

I deleted that folder in safe mode. there was a folder (empty) by the same name in 'program files' that i deleted also.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Click on Options, Settings.
  • In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
  • Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
  • Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
  • After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After the computer is clean, it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.


Scan with HijackThis and check the following items:

With all other programs and browsers closed click Fix checked.

Please set your computer to show all files.
  • Double-click My Computer.
  • Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
  • Click the View tab.
  • Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
  • Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
  • Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Delete the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\pascal\Application Data\Flaw Mpeg


Open notepad and copy and paste the following text into it:
%systemdrive%
cd C:\WINDOWS\Tasks
attrib -r -s -h B148896E92033D8E.job
del B148896E92033D8E.job

Save this as remjob.bat, choose to save it as *all files* and place it on your desktop.

Doubleclick on remjob.bat. A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

All the Tray shortcuts dissapeared when i was doing this. It's no prob, put them back. I did all of the above with wireless turned off, except for when I took the log. I also tuned back on ms antispy for the reboot.


I had a different username on camfrog (I am an OP there) selected before i re-booted, and it was set as autostart.

This Yahoo searchbar arrived on my desktop on friday. Is no problem, I disabled in IE. Just wondering where it came from. BTW my brother got it on his computer also. I prefer the the to of IE to be small, with my google search box next to the URL box.

Your new log appears clean. :)

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the System Restore tab, put a check mark in the 'Turn Off System Restore' check box.
3. Click OK, and then click Yes.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 2, this time clearing the box beside 'Turn Off System Restore', click 'OK'.


I suggest that you download these programs to help keep the computer clean:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer. Spyware Blaster runs silently in the background.
ie-spyad - Puts over 12,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites for Internet Explorer.
Google Toolbar - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
Firefox - 'Safer' alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
ZoneAlarm - Free firewall program if you currently are not using one.

Here are two very good and free malware scanners:

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
AdAware SE v1.06
Set-up Instructions for Spybot S&D; and Adaware SE

If you have them already, check to make sure that they are the newest version.

Update these regularly.

Thankyou Alan. Regarding the programs you mention, I have most of them, plus spy doctor and antispy in system mechanic. I thought that maybe I had too many. LOL. Regarding firewall, I have physical firewall on router. I have the option of using the one in system mechanic. But I need to read up on Firewall settings as I am a little ignorant on there usage. I have all inbound blocked, but allow outbound. I never seem to have enough time these days for myself. lol. I know that some firewalls interfere with Camfrog. I do about 40+ hours vollentrey work for camfrog, and another 15/20 hours for a technical forum (not computers) as moderator. But I was very careless up to a few weeks ago. If you saw all the trojans and the dialers that I removed before I sent my first log, you would grind you teeth. I am satisfied with my security now, and I have used WPA encription on the wieless network from day one. I would like to thank you for your help, as I too know what it like to dedicate time to help others. Boopolo
