Here's my log. My problem is that I'm only getting 10 minutes worth of internet time on my browser, then I need to reboot if I want to use it more. Email seems to work fine. TIA!

Hello Elitana, welcome to the forum. Sorry about the delay in responding :( If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Here's my new log from a scan this morning. Still having the same problem after trying a 101 different type of fixes, including anti-virus scans, spybot, tcp/ip fix, reloading Windows ME, etc.

I understand that you guys are busy and appreciate any help you can offer. I'm at my wit's end…I don't know what else to do.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thanks for the help so far. I did as requested - it went flawless, but I still get "Operation timed out when attempting to contact…" error message on Firefox after 10 minutes of use. Had to reboot to respond.

Here's my new hijack log:

Any more feedback you can offer would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I still get "Operation timed out when attempting to contact…" error message on Firefox after 10 minutes of use. Had to reboot to respond.

Can you try IE and see if it does the same thing.
Same deal - different message. I get "The page cannot be displayed" screen (Cannot find server or DNS error page). I should further clarify that if I wait too long to browse after rebooting/turning on my PC, I get the error messages immediately - like there's an internal clock that shuts off my browsing capabilities after so many minutes. If I miss that window of opportunity, then I must reboot my PC to regain it. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.
I don't see anything in your log that would cause that, but we can see if Spy Sweeper can find something.

Have you talked to your ISP about this?
Do you have a Router / external Modem?

Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from Here

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)

Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system. If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so immediately. This is a necessary step to kill the infection!

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

Exit Spy Sweeper.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HJT log as well as the Resullts from Spy Sweeper file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I made contact today with my roadrunner ISP service techs. After a few minutes of Q&A and ping tests, the service tech narrowed down the problem to my former ZoneAlarm firewall protection. He deducted that the program may not have been fully uninstalled when I had it uninstalled. Portions of it was lingering in my PC's system interfering with my browsing capabilities.

I tried to reload ZoneAlarm, but had problems with that too. I found in their tech forum how to manually clean out former files (a complete uninstall) here.

Once I deleted the files (some I had to do in safe mode), I emptied the recycle bin and rebooted my PC. Upon reboot, the PC - for the first time ever! - found the broadband router and added it to my Network Places. Wow! I must be finally onto something!

However, I got bluescreen VMM(01) errors when trying to open Thunderbird and Firefox (having to reboot each time). After the third time, I was able to come online and post my message here. So far, my browsers (both IE and Firefox) are now cooperating fully and are not timing out! (Whew!)

I'm still aggravated by the VMM(01) errors as that they pop up intermittendly.

Can't stay as my 2YO toddler want to now take over my PC.

Thanks for all your help!!
I checked out the site and didn't find the VMM error codes that I've been getting. (Google didn't help either.) However, I did do a registry clean-up (with Tweaknow Registry Cleaner) which removed all the leftover registry files that lead to the zonealarm files I deleted. I followed that with Microsoft's RegClean and it seemed to stabilize the system. Haven't had a error since. B) Nice to have my PC back in shape. Appreciate all your help and time. You all are cool!
Good Job

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
Will do! I have AVG already. Do I need to have Zonealarm even though my router hubs claims to have firewall protection? I'll download it again if need be. I'll also look into those three programs. Thanks a bunches!

No, your Firewall should be fine.
