I am working on a friend's computer.

Windows XP SP1,
AOL 9.0 Optimized,
McAfee 8.0.45 with dat of 4.0.4598 10/06/2005.

I have run McAfee (Windows Safe Mode) and Ad Aware, cold booted and still have a redirect to some other main page (oxyzypifmto.html) using Internet Explorer. McAfee continues to pop up stating "A Trojan Has Been Detected and Cleaned" the trojan is named "QHost-41" located in; c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.

Pasted below is my "HiJack This" log. Thank you for your Help.

We are sorry for the delay in replying to you. If you still require help, please Post a fresh Hijackthis log as a reply to this thread. I'll receive an e-mail notification of your reply and will respond as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Alsocom, Thank you for your reply. I believe I have corrected the problems on my own by using Ad Aware, Spybot, finding and uninstalling EasySearch hijack (and a few other unknowns), uninstalling and reinstalling McAfee and lastly running "regsvr32 wuaueng.dll" on a command prompt. (Windows update controls were greyed out.) If I have further problems I will repost. Thank you!
I'm glad to hear the problem is fixed now. I'll give you my recommendations to help better protect the computer now. :)

I suggest that you download these programs to help keep the computer clean:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer. Spyware Blaster runs silently in the background.
ie-spyad - Puts over 12,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites for Internet Explorer.
Google Toolbar - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
Firefox - 'Safer' alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
ZoneAlarm - Free firewall program if you currently are not using one.

Update these regularly.

MOST IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and IE to get all the Latest Security Patches to protect your computer from the malware that is on the internet.
I recommend going to the following link and update to SP2. This adds more security and extra features including a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer.
Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer Updates

Here is a great link that explains the procedure for updating to SP2.
Here is a link that better explains the reasons for installing SP2.

If you are on a slow connection or dial-up, you may want to Order the Windows XP SP2 CD from Microsoft. This is provided free of charge from Microsoft.

Alan, Thank you I'm pretty sure this issue is now fixed. If I run into other problems I will place a new post… Holes have been plugged with the lasted updates from Microsoft, utilities from www.GRC.COM, Anti-virus software, firewall and Ad Aware/Spybot too… Not to mention HJT. Again, thank you for your assistance… Bill
