I am having a problem when searching using google. When I click on the links that were returned on the search I am getting redirected to other search pages. When I type in the link directly into the address bar it works. Adaware does not find any problems on my system and neither does CA Etrust spware. Is there an entry in the log below that needs to be removed?

Hello closes, welcome to the forum.

I don't see anything in your log that is causing the problem. You can try this and see if we find anything.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan and let it clean everything it finds. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

The forum is run by volunteers who donate their time and expertise.

The problem continues. Any search result on google that I select redirects me to another site, so far the site(s) that I am redirected to do not repeat so I am unable to find the true source of the problem. I haven't noticed any other problem with my computer or any other pages that I visit.

Sorry, I posted before I saw your reply.

I followed your directions and the log is listed below.

I have the google toolbar installed and I use only google to search. I tested yahoo and ask jeeves and neither of these sites returned different results than expected when the search results were selected. I then used the same search string in google and was redirected to other pages again, hotels.com and ticketsnow.com. If i keep hitting the back arrow eventually after the third or fourth time I get the actual page that the search result showed.

Thanks for the help.

Lets run the scan again. Lets see if it'll kill the ones it couldn't last time.

You're log looks good, but I suggest you run the Ewido scan until only Cookies are found. I don't like it when it keeps finding Trojan's :rant2: Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following: 1) Restart your computer 2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8. 3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear 4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode. When no more Trojan's are found: Save the logfile from the scan. Post it along with a new HJT log.

Good Job

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

MOST IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and IE to get all the Latest Security Patches to protect your computer from the malware that is around on the internet. Please go to
http://v5.windowsupd...t.aspx?ln=en-us]Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer Updates[/URL] to get the critical updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office, or any portion thereof, go to the Microsoft's Office Update site and make sure you have at least all the cirtical updates installed (Free) Microsoft Office Update
