Yes, that was exactly what I ment. It puzzles me why the windows close that suddenly. It could be the settings of SpywareGuard Download Protection are to strict. I do not use that antispywareprogram myself. Are you using a router? Are you using the firewall in Windows SP2?
I don't see any setting options in SpyWare Guard so if it is responsible, it would be something internal. However, I ran with it for quite some time with no problems. Yes, I do use a router and SP2 firewall, but currently this is the only system on the router. The FW is on.
Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE to download Silent Runner's.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
I went on faith. My Norton said "Malicious Script." How come?

I'm also interested in the INFECTION WARNING on my keyboard filters because I have an intermitttent keyboard problem too that I haven't got around to working yet.

Thanks,

Done. BTW I've used Cleanup! in the past but actually use CCleaner about once a week instead. Cleanup! wipes my IE drop down of recent links. Do you still think this may be a spy/malware problem rather than my Java might be old/corrupted or something? A buddy of mine here couldn't figure it out, but changed something so that now I get an error description when one of these doesn't work, rather than just opening and closing right away. Wanted to paste it here (how do I do that?), but it says: "Problems with this web page prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly. In the future, you can display this message by double-clicking the warning icon displayed in the status bar. [ OK and Hide Details buttons] Line: 1 Char: 2 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: javascript:%20PopupWindow('…..) The problem exists at more than just one website.
Try going over the ie security settings again. Using the default button, use same button in advanced options. Then try a java script link that didn't work before. If that still does not work try setting the site to trusted. If that still does not work will try another way.
Still no luck, although I'm not convinced IEFix was running properly. It wouldn't recognized my disk OR the hard drive files, and when I canceled to bypass as the directions said, it would open two dialog boxes: one to tell me the fix was complete and another to tell be the windows dll files needed updating (and still prompting for disks it won't recognize)
You may have to register these dll'se:

You can open > start and then > run
Type in the box:
Click OK after every line you typed!

net.exe stop wuauserv
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

After you have done that go to Windows update:

MOST IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and IE to get all the Latest Security Patches to protect your computer from the malware that is around on the internet. Please go to
Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer Updates to get the critical updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office, or any portion thereof, go to the Microsoft's Office Update site and make sure you have at least all the cirtical updates installed (Free) Microsoft Office Update
 Still no love. Are we to the point where I need to uninstall and reinstall IE? Hope not. Really appreciate all your help and patience through this. This is a tough one! :rant2:
