Hi KEN, I scanned them and they came out clean with the first link. So, I guess that is a good thing! Did have the browser freeze up today and cancelled out of CMMON32 and freed it right up. Must be the software. Still waiting on the other scan. Ty, M
Hi, still having some troubles. I noticed in my firewall multiple connections on babe.the-killer.bz, and when I googled it I found a link that attributed to spybot (which I have) and some directions for correcting it: change the host file by unchecking read only, opening the hosts.sam folder, cut and paste to clipboard then pasting in the host file. My hosts.sam file is just a sample file from microsoft. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do? The link also said that it would cause slow browser speed, which I have. Thanks, Mmf
magicfriend,

You need to Open Spybot Search and Destroy first and make sure your in Advanced Mode, then go to Tools/ IE Tweeks and take the checkmark out of Lock The Host File.

Please download HOSTER from the link below.

http://www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip

* Unzip Hoster.zip to your Desktop
* Open Hoster.exe.
* Close all Open Windows.
* Then click on Restore Original Hosts
* Close program when complete.

Now go back into Spybot Tools/ Hosts Files and Add the Hosts files back and then to Tools IE Tweeks and Lock the Hosts files.

Download and Run CCleaner Start the program and click on Run Cleaner, then run the Issues Scan, when it asks you if you want to Back Up The Registry SAY YES

Lets run a couple of online virus scanners, have them set to Fix or Auto Clean, when your done with this all, post a new HJT log along with anything the virus scanners found and could not fix

Hi Ken, things went well until I got to the first online scan, housecalls. I then got a prompt saying there was a corrupted pattern/engine file VSAPl32.DLL please remove and start scan again. I wasn't sure what to do so I closed out . thought it was sort of odd where I just ran a thorough disc scan/repair this afternoon and then CCleaner (which found 99). Any advice on how/if to remove the .DLL file? Thanks, Mmf
VSAPl32.DLL

This seems to be an issue on some systems running housecall. I can't find the file anywhere for you to download and install it, but I will keep on looking.

Ken :D
Hi Ken, I ran Sygate and it said it blocked all probes, and to disable firewall and scan again, and it still said blocked all probes. Then I ran the McAfee and it showed zero infected (I did shut off firewall, antivirus, etc before I ran this last one as I thought it might have been part of the trouble with running the scans) Then this am when I started up I couldn't get to my homepage , even after a restart, kept getting page not found. I finally hit my email button and got a page that way, but I also had a survey popup which never happens when I open the email page. I will go run a hijack this and post it. Oh, the connections on the firewall do show local host now. I don't think I mentioned that ,before fixing the hosts file, the system connections had one that said global mobile which seemed a bit odd. Haven't seen it since. Scan to follow, Mmf

magicfriend,,

Open up Internet Explorer and go to Tools/ Internet Options/ Programs and click on Reset Web Settings, when you restart your system, if when you click on IE and it goes to a blank page, surf the home page you want and then and then go to Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ and click on Use Current.

Then open HJT, close all open windows and your browser, put a checkmark in these entries and click on Fix Checked.

If Local net is your ISP, you can still remove these, the local net is taking me to Page Not Found, you can also go back into there site and add it back on as your start page later if you need to.

* Just as a side note, I found another user with Local Net and the link worked in there log, you links may just be corrupted. After you remove the entries above, you can type in the URL for local net and make it your start page again.

I still need to look over your log, I will be away for the rest of the day so post a new log when done with the above and I will check it over this evening.

Ken :D
Hi Ken, hope your weekend is going well. The next time I started up I got right to my home page so I didn't do what you suggested, and have restarted three times since with no trouble. I was going to reply last night to let you know and when I hit reply I got the blue error screen, I did write them down but as I managed to get a reply in this time around I am not posting the error at this point. Do you still want me to check those local net boxes? What about all the stuff from the online scans that shows in the hijack this log? Do I still need that stuff on there? Thanks, Mmf
Hi I did run 2 scans: I ran Sygate and it said it blocked all probes, and to disable firewall and scan again, and it still said blocked all probes. Then I ran the McAfee and it showed zero infected (I did shut off firewall, antivirus, etc before I ran this last one as I thought it might have been part of the trouble with running the scans) then I posted the HJT log. Do you want another log? should still be the same…? Mmf
Hi ken, here ya go thanks. Mmf
