Hi..I've been eyeing the hijackthis forum for a while…(learned WHOLE lot from it) and finally decided to register. My first question is, I tried running "chkdsk /f" and typed in Y when DOS window came up. But when I restart the utility does not run… I also use norton system works and tried running thru that as well but does not work… Thanks in advance TK
Have you tried right clicking on the drive letter under my computer and go to properties… it will give you the option there to run chkdsk
No.. did it not give you the option to run chkdsk at all..? get your windows installation cd and put it in. Click on Start.. then run… type command.. at the prompt type SFC /scannow ..it may take a bit to complete but SFC will replace/repair system files
ok just did it…and it works!! but now i have a new problem… :( whenever i reboot, windows runs chkdsk utility even though i haven't ordered it to. thanks (and sorry) in advance TK

It would do that when you don't shut down correctly. You are shutting down through windows, right?
