ok…so i'm running in circles….first i was going to Admin in safe mode thats why the 04 startup csrss.exe didn't show up……..but now…HT gives me an Error 52 and won't delete it. Then in regular mode i went to check my syste32 file and there was TONS of hidden folders the a bunch of csrss.exe .ini .dat files….i got most of them delete but there are a few csrss.exe in random letter folders that won't delete…..can i just change the ext to anything other then ini or dat???? And i'm confused as to when to use that killbox progam…….i did it in safe mode after i attemped to delete the 04 start up and my system crashed after running it. so 1. I can't get the 04 startup csrss.exe ? error 52 ht 2. how do i confirm which is the correct csrss.exe, and how could i delete the remaining folders….claim that it's in use etc. 3. Killbox when, after everything else……..?" thx bud addman

OK.

Since we're just spinning our wheels here with these tools, let's ratchet it up a bit.

Click here to download Ewido security suite - it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install Ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.

After the definitions have been updated, close Ewido.

Do NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Now, run Ewido, then:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin (do not open any folder's or open the windows control panel while the scan is in progress).
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report.txt file to your desktop.
Now close Ewido security suite.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\WINDOWS\System32\kwgaxdn\csrss.exe

F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\System32\kwgaxdn\csrss.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

c:\windows\system32\kwgaxdn <— FOLDER

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new Hijack This! log file, and the report.txt file from the Ewido scan, into this thread. :)

I may have to "go off the air" for a while.. storms in my area… :o

Good job!!!

This was one of the "bugs" in your machine:

W32.Chod.B@mm

It did some registry changes we need to reverse.

Please download/unzip this:

RegScan.vbs

on Regscan.vbs, and search for this:

csrss.lnk

Paste the contents of the results into your next post.

Click here to download and install Registrar Lite.

We'll need it in a bit.

Are things running much better now?
good job lol….this is all you!…i'm mearly your lacky :P The regscan found nothing, i tried csrss.lnk = ? too that is definitly the recent bug that i got…..obviously that avg virus software is a waste of fucking time cuz there was alot more stuff then that…….i guess i shouldn't be so cheap eh. Thankfully a new computer rig is right around the corner. Ok so…what now 6:8 if i had Mcaffe virus scanner would i have any of these headaches? minus being stupid enough to clik the link that started all of this. addman

If you don't find any of these registry items, skip it, and go to the next one on the list.

Close Registrar Lite.

One thing still needs "fixed" with Hijack This!:

O4 - Startup: csrss.lnk = ?

Then reboot and post a new log file.

If "fixing" that was a problem earlier, run the regsearch tool again, this time just search for:

csrss

And post the results.
