Hi and welcome to TomCoyote forum. I do not see the markers for Aurora so maybe you were successful, time will tell. I do see these two items:
C:\Program Files\Symworks\xviepl40.exe and C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsoiplat.exe The don't idenify, do you know them? If you want a check you can use these tools:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/ or http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
You also have ClearSearch: http://doxdesk.com/parasite/ClearSearch.html
Before I start I want to give you this information: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE if you want this item removed, you will need to let me know then search for it and mark down where it is. I believe it is in C:\Windows? Let me know if you want it removed and I will do that later. We will start with some scans looking for stuff HJT can not see:

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp and please do not run it until I ask you to.

2) Download, update, configure and run these two programs: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php Please do not activate TeaTimer until we are finished with the repair.

3) Ewido scan:
Please download Ewido Security Suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
Ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

4) Run CCleaner, when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do. Then restart the computer and post a new HJT log and the Ewido scan results in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let me know how you are running now.

Thanks…pskelley

hey thanks alot for the help on this. its been killing me for like 2 weeks. anyways… yea i have noticed those two programs seem to be taking up alot of ram and i think they are spyware or something. i still get a lot of ads and stuff popping onto the screen and i cant seem to get rid of the two programs (C:\Program Files\Symworks\xviepl40.exe and C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsoiplat.exe). my computer seems to get really slow as time goes on and i leave it idle. sometimes i cant come back to it without restarting and i definatley think it has to do with those prgrams. thank you and here are the scans you wanted.

Hello, I am fairly sure that they are both problems, but I can't check them with the tools I provided because they are on your computer, not mine. I will assume that because of your answer you want them removed. If I am making an incorrect assumption, please do not proceed and make me aware of your wishes.

Concerning the resource waster and probably spyware ALCXMNTR.EXE, you might want to ask these folks Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor what they are doing with this item on your computer. Since you did not mention it, the ball is in your court. If you want it gone, search, navigate to it and delete the file only. Watch the spelling as there may be files in the same area that look like this one but are spelled different and must not be removed.

1) Your spyware programs may very well block changes we must make, they will need to be turned off until you are done. Remember to turn them back on.
Microsoft AntiSpyware: Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

2) Look in Add Remove programs for Symworks, if there uninstall it. Now open Task Manager then the processes tab. End process on those two items.
C:\Program Files\Symworks\xviepl40.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsoiplat.exe

3) SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\Symworks\xviepl40.exe >>> folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsoiplat.exe >>> file

C:\Windows\Prefetch: Locate this folder and delete all of the contents (NOT THE FOLDER) This information will tell you more about Prefetch:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_…refetch-XP.html

Make sure you empty all temp and temp internet files, this information may help:
http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/deletingtempfiles.htm
http://www.safecomputing.umn.edu/guides/tempdirectories.html

Run CCleaners again as a final check, use the Ewido scan results to become aware of where those spyware cookies are hiding so you can delete them if the cleaner does not.
Post a new HJT log along with your comments, let me know how you are running.

Thanks…Phil

I have no idea why Ewido would do that, I use it in hundred of logs? You can try running it in safe mode if you wish:

I see nothing to be concerned with in this newest HJT log, looks good :) Great job of following those complex instructions
