Hello,
I need some help please. My computer has been plagued with the following for some time now. I've cleaned about everything I can but the problems remain:
1. Frequent pop up ads, some porno related
2. very very slow
3. an extra toolbar is on Internet explorer that cannot be removed. It has a search box, and links like "find friends", "find online drugs", etc.
4. My home page on IE keeps changing even after reset.
5. did I say very very slow?!

Here's my log:

Download this tool: http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Unzip it to your Desktop.
Don't use it yet!

IMPORTANT! Reboot the computer into Safe Mode (tap F8 during bootup, use arrow keys to select Safe Mode, then hit 'enter').

Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A doswindow will open and close again, that is normal.

Reboot into normal mode and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.
SiggyX, I'm having some trouble with the instructions below. I used the link provided and saved the file to my desktop, which was called rkfile.zip. I unzipped it, and there are 2 objects: rkfile.bat and something called String (application). I went to safe mode but I don't have LQfix.bat on my desktop. I tried running rkfile.bat just in case, a dos window opened, it said "3 files copied. Please wait until DOS window closes. Post the contents to c:\log.tx. Checking sys folder….." and then stayed there for over 10 minutes so I closed the dos window and rebooted in normal mode. Can you please advise what I should be doing? Thanks!
Thank you for your reply.
I ran the Elite Toolbar Remover in safe mode. Looks like the toolbar problem is still there. Here's the log:

Please download miekiemoes' LQfix batch here:
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/LQfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please run LQfix.bat. When finished, restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log.
Thanks for the quick response! I ran the file in Safe Mode, rebooted and here's the log. (The tool didn't find any of the files it was looking for.)

Hey!! I just launced IE and no toolbar. The pop ups seemed to have stopped and performance is fast again. Something worked!! By the way, is there something I can install to "prevent" this from happening in future? I have no idea how this got on here, but there are 3 teens in the house who chat, listen to music online, etc. I have Norton activated and updated, run spybot and adware every couple of days. What else could I do?
