Hi. My sister in-law got a lot of help from your site and I hope you can help me too. I use dial-up internet and recently switched over to Talk America internet services. Almost from the minute I did that I have been constantly getting these annoying little grey pop up windows. Step # 1

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

Please download and run Spybot 1.4 & AdAware SE Then follow the instructions in the link below to run.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Okay, I did everything you said except for Panda. As soon as I finished downloading that one, it said error on page and wouldn't go any further. Here are my new Hijack and Ewido logs. Any advice you can give me would really be appreciated!

Okay, I fixed those couple of lines from my Hijack scan like you told me to and rebooted to safe mode. Then you told me to look for and delete 3 other files/folders if present. Where would I find those? Sorry but I'm not all that great with computers :( I ran Hijack again and here is my latest log:

Scan with hijackthis and put a check beside this line and choose FIX O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe" Then boot to safe mode and delete this folder if present click on my computer>c drive>programs files folder>then look for Autoupdate folder. Right click on it and choose delete. Post a new log when complete please.

Well, it runs a bit faster now that we've cleaned all of that junk off. Thanks! The same stupid pop ups keep coming up though. Any other ideas? They come up several different times a minute.

To run the virus scan make sure you click the following

memory, registry, startup folders, system folders, services, drive (all drives will be added) then click on scan clean. When the scan is complete hilight all the files in the LOWER box. Then ctrl + c and paste them into the thread ctrl + v.

I warn you the scan will take a long time to run and will not fix anything just identifies bad files.
