Hello reesepbc

It seems when you posted your Hijack This log, the top section was cut off.
That is a very important area, as it contains the date, your OS and the HJT version. All are things that we need to see in order to help you.

Since you are going to post a fresh log anyway, why not do some diagnostics beforehand, that could help with your problem. Also, please advise us of the nature of the problem, as best you can, so we can more easily assist you.

Please use the following links to run one, or more of these online Virus Scanners and let them fix whatever they find.

If you are using any of the browsers listed just below, the following online Virus scanning site is compatable.
http://be.trendmicro-europe.com/consumer/h…call_launch.php
If you are using any of these browsers:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Netscape (6+)
Mozilla (1+)
Firefox (all)
Opera (7.5+)

Internet Explorer users can also use the following links.

When using Trend Micro, be sure and put a check in the box by "Auto Clean" before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location, so you can delete it yourself.
Bitdefender and let it delete everything it finds.
TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

And here are links to two online Trojan Scanners. Lets run one, or both of these too.

http://scan.sygatetech.com/pretrojanscan.html

And here:
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

If you are unable to get or use either of the online Trojan Scanners above………..

Go here http://www.trojanhunter.com/ and download and run the free trial of Trojan Hunter.

Then,
Please download and install Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D according to the following instructions. If you already have these programs, please make sure they are the latest version and have been updated today. Then run full systems scans as described below.

Install and how to use the NEW Ad-aware SE
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind…showtutorial=48

Reboot after using Ad-Aware SE.
Download the VX cleaner plug in for Adaware. Install it, then open Adaware & go to *add-ons* & run the plug-in. If anything is found, select *clean system* & when done, reboot & run Adaware & let it finish the clean-up. Reboot again.

Would you please download the Spybot S&D program from here Spybot S&D and install it.
  • Select Search for updates.
  • Then select all available updates that are displayed in the white box.
  • Select a download mirror nearest your location.
  • Then select Download updates .
  • Shut down and restart Spybot.
  • Select the Search and destroy icon and click on Check for Problems.
  • Delete/fix anything that spybot lists In RED.
.

Then, please REBOOT, to allow Spybot to finish working

The following step is important as you may have several malware files in your temp directories.

Then browse to the C:\documents and settings\Your User Name (repeat for all other user names in documents and settings)\local settings\temp folder and delete all files and folders in it.
Then browse to the C:\Window\Temp folder and delete all files and folders in it.
Then in internet explore click tools>internet Options>General. Click on Delete Files make sure you get all offline content as well.

Then please run Hijack This, copy the log and post it here, in this string, using the Post Reply feature, so I will be notified.

Please do not attempt to FIX anything in the fresh log. We need to see the entire log, without revisions.

Are you protected by both a FIREWALL. and an ANTI-VIRUS ?

Below you will find a link to Zone Alarm, which has a good free firewall for personal use, another for kerio and a link to sygate. Note that it is not a good idea to run two firewalls simultaneously, not even along with the new Microsoft firewall.

Hiya this is Reese, thank you for helping me, and sorry it took so long, but as for my problem. Well see I've been having this msg pop up on my screen like every five mins telling me that IE wants to connect to the internet, or stay offline. Well it's annoying and I don't even use IE I use firefox, but I am worried that something is wrong. So I was hoping you could tell me what stuff i can do without on my registry, and maybe someway i can keep that anooying msg from popping up. It is also interfering when I play games on my comp such as the sims and other comp games i own. It's crashing my system. What can i do?

When i have run virus scans it states that there are no viruses, but I'm still worried.
Thank you again.

~ Reese ~
Hello reesepbc;

It is always advisable to say what the problems are, in your original post, so someone that feels they can help, will do so. Otherwise, someone could reply that has little or no knowledge regarding the specific problem you may have.

You say you use the Firefox browser, did you use it to post this log ?
I must assume that you ran the online scanners and programs that were suggested in my previous post. If you did not, please do so now, with the exception of the online trojan scans.

Next:
Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
  1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  3. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack….
  5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.

  7. Next:
Please set your computer to show all files.

    * Double-click My Computer.
    * Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
    * Click the View tab.
    * Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
    * Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
    * Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
    * Click Apply, and then click OK.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes, if there:

C:\WINDOWS\csrss.exe Not the one in system 32

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
Place a check mark beside each one of the following entries, if still there:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…rch/search.html
    F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\inet20013\services.exe
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVShell] C:\WINDOWS\System32\loader.exe
    O16 - DPF: {24311111-1111-1121-1111-111191113457} - file://c:\eied_s7.cab
    O16 - DPF: {33331111-1111-1111-1111-611111193457} - file://c:\ex.cab
    O16 - DPF: {33331111-1111-1111-1111-611111193458} - file://c:\ex.cab
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: avpx32 - avpx32.dll (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: System - {23C6212E-10E4-4B86-8D78-1E2D6FFB905D} - ssmc.dll (file missing)

    The following are OPTIONAL fixes:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the follwing files/folders shown DARK, and delete them (if they are present):

C:\WINDOWS\csrss.exe Be sure this is NOT in system32
    C:\WINDOWS\inet20013
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\loader.exe
    c:\eied_s7.cab
    c:\ex.cab

Please note that this is optional and if fixed here, it must also be Uninstalled/Removed in Add/Remove programs, in control panel.
    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

If you were unable to find,or delete any of the files, then please follow these additional instructions:

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.

Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.

The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.

    Let the system reboot.

    Next:

The following step is important as you may have several malware files in your temp directories.

Then browse to the C:\documents and settings\Your User Name (repeat for all other user names in documents and settings)\local settings\temp folder and delete all files and folders in it.
Then browse to the C:\Window\Temp folder and delete all files and folders in it.
Then in internet explore click tools>internet Options>General. Click on Delete Files make sure you get all offline content as well.

Reboot , enable hidden files and post a fresh Hijack This log in this thread along with the log from the EWIDO scan.
Please use the Post Reply feature, so I will be notified.

Note: Do not attempt to "Fix" anything in the new log, as we need to see the entire log, without revisions.
