"Businesses and consumers just keep putting out cold, hard cash for new PCs, often at rock-bottom prices. At least that's the gist of a rosy new report for market researcher IDC. It says the PC market continues to grow, particularly in Europe, as sales hit a 16.6 percent worldwide surge in the second quarter. IDC analysts were ebullient. "It's phenomenal," David Daoud, client computing research manager at IDC said in an interview Monday. "This is the strongest growth weve seen since the third quarter of 2000." The 16.6 percent surge was attributed largely by figures from Europe, the Middle East and Africa, which were up more than 20 percent. While the European figures were unanticipated, U.S. growth figures of 11.7 percent were in line with forecasts…"

Makes sense, since the 4-5 year old 98SE systems can barely run anything new.. Even the new Netscape requires 64meg of RAM.
