edit for safety
Hello Larry, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. I edited your email out, bots all over the forums looking for valid email.
If you are not being helped elsewhere, then follow these directions in the posted order:

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions on the download page and please do not run it until I ask you to.

2) You would be better served if you were to use the most recent versions of Ad-aware 1.06 and Spybot 1.04 as they can get to places HJT cannot. Please use this link: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php to download, update, configure and run these two "big guns" and allow them to remove anything bad they locate. Both programs provide backups for your safety. ***note: please do not activate Spybot TeaTimer until your computer is clean. Run Spybot first and reboot between the scans. It is good to run both programs at least twice, and run the "Full System Scan".

3) Ewido trojan scanner: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
  1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  3. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack….
  5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread.

  7. ***some items may no longer exist after the scans are run, just do not miss any***

    4) Look for this 180solutions in Add Remove programs, if there uninstall it.

    5) This item: C:\WINDOWS\system32\hn3kno8g.exe does not identify and as such is probably a trojan, unless you know what it is open Task Manager then under the Processes tab end process on it.

    6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sais] c:\program files\180solutions\sais.exe
    180Solutions/N-Case adware variant
If you know this next one, pass over it
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [rcp] C:\WINDOWS\rcp.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hn3kno8g] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hn3kno8g.exe
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://ny.contentmatch.net (HKLM)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    7) SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

    c:\program files\180solutions\ >>> folder

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hn3kno8g.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\rcp.exe >>> file (unless you know it)

Locate C:\Windows\Prefetch folder and open it. Delete the contents of the folder (NOT THE FOLDER) if there are many choose Edit then Select all then Delete. You may not be able to remove them all, don't be concerned unless any have the name of the items we need to remove. Here is some information about the Prefetch for you:
    http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_…refetch-XP.html

    8) Run CCleaner but do not use the registry cleaner unless you backup the registry first as prompted. Then restart the computer and post a new HJT log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

    Thanks…pskelley

    PURGE SYSTEM RESTORE
When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed follow these instructions:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam
pskelley,
OK, I finally got through everything you recommended. The good news is the ie explorer application error no longer appears. I still have one problem left though. Nearly every new page I go to comes back with page cannot be found and I have to hit refresh to get the page to load. The result of my final HJT log is below.

Thanks for your help,
Larry

Hello Larry, The HJT log looks good  no malware evident. We will have to try some things to see if we can fix the error message. I would appreciate it if you would post the error message word for word, thanks.

I would also like you to use http://www.google.com/ and type or copy and paste that exact error message into the search box and click on search so you can see how may reasons for this error message there are. Perhaps you will spot something that will help. I am going to try a few things with you to see if I can hit on the reason.

1) Open CCleaner then click on Issues. Click on Scan for Issues, then Fix selected issues. When you get a prompt to backup changes to the registry select YES. All boxes should be checked by default. Save the registry backup in MyDocuments where you can find it easily IF you should need it. Then scan for issues and after you back up, fix the issues located.

2) Let's remove these items to see if they have to do with it. I am assuming Comcast is your home page, if not, you can remove the comcast line also.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t;…sario&pf;=laptop
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t;…sario&pf;=laptop
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = https://register.hp.com/servlet/WebReg.serv…e=EN&prodOS;=011
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&tp=iehome&locale=EN_US&c=Q105&bd=presario&pf=laptop

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) I would like to know if this happens to all pages or if if some pages work ok. Here are some common error messages and their reasons, see if this helps.
http://www.webopedia.com/quick_ref/error.asp
http://www.geekgirls.com/net_browser_errors.htm

5) Perhaps the exact error message might help. While we look at this issue, I would like to give you this information, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=3051
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict2520.html
So you can use it to perhaps prevent future malware issues.

Thanks…pskelley
