Welcome to TomCoyote.org! :wavey:

Have you had the machine checked for malware?

Malware can degrade system performance significantly.

Even if you have an active antivirus/anti malware program, unwanted items may still have crept into your system.

If you'd like to have someone check it for items you may not want, or things that could possibly slow it down, please do this:

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Download HijackThis into this folder.

If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

Links to Hijack This! v 1.99.1:

http://tools.radiosplace.com/HijackThis.exe
http://spywarewarrior.com/files/HijackThis.exe
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/HijackThis.exe

Run it from that folder.

Click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

DO NOT "FIX" ANYTHING WITH IT YET!!!
FIXING THE WRONG THING COULD RENDER YOUR SYSTEM INOPERABLE!!!

Reply to this thread, and "copy/paste" the ENTIRE CONTENTS of the log file into this thread.
I did as you suggested..and the Hijack came with No suspicious items found. :) thats good right? lol im afraid it could be the motherborads fault..even though its a 2 month old comp sigh
Ummmm… Hijack This! doesn't "check for suspicious items" on it's own (unless you've had a log file examined by an expert in another forum). It takes someone with experience in these matters to decipher a HJT log file. If you post one here for me, I'll look it over. :)

Ok here it is :)
( had msn running sorry)
I hope you can help me out cos it has gotten stuck like 7 times during our little forum convo..lmao
Hmmm…..

That is an older version of HJT.

If you used one of the links I posted, try the others until you get version 1.99.1

Please follow the instructions on making a folder for it, and downloading it into that folder. You have your current version on the "desktop". This is undesirable.

Be sure you get the entire log file. The one you posted looks a little "short".

I don't see any antivirus or firewall programs running in the log file, that's a bad thing to not see in a log file. Have you ever checked your system for virii?

I don't see any malware in that log file.
I scanned it for viruses yesterday when windows was taken in..and cos of the getting stuck my anti virus seems not to start on its own anymore…now i started virus and took new hijack i hope this log file is ok..and it is short…cos i have notihng in except windows. I think i just have to reinstall win xp again…it wont even let me validate it..lol Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 22:01:33, on 28.06.2005 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgemc.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgcc.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Desktop\hijackthis.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe /STARTUP O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_EMC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - (no file) O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - (no file) O23 - Service: AVG7 Alert Manager Server (Avg7Alrt) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe O23 - Service: AVG7 Update Service (Avg7UpdSvc) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe
Well, Ma'am, "short" logs are OK as long as they're complete logs.

I don't see anything in the log that should cause problems.

My win xp is freshly installed

Does this mean you upgraded from a different version of windows, or just re-installed over the existing vesion of XP?

If you upgraded an "older" machine to XP, you may not have enought RAM or processor speed to let it work efficiently. Windows is a "memory hungry monster", and you need to feed it all the memory it can handle.
Actually its a brand new comp with brand new XP :) i had to reinstall xp cos i lost files. I have discovered that my comp temperature is 102 degrees..even though the ventialtor inside the cpu works fine..could it be cos of the heat its getting stuck perhaps?
Oh well…thx for your help anyways:) at least i know it isnt a system problem entirely..even though i dont know why my comp heat is so high..all of the ventilators work fine.. *sigh* i should have bought a laptop :P Cheers
