Hello Hershey. Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Looks like you do have the infection. The F2 item is the main marker for the infection. Please follow these directions exactly:

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix.exe
Save it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Thanks…pskelley

Thanks for the help. Here is the new Hijackthis post and the logfile from the Ewido scan. I don't see the F2 on the new list. Can you let me know if you see anything else suspicious. Also anyother suggestions on keeping these nusances off my computer? I do the window updates. I had spybots and just added adaware. I saw a few other suggestions - Spywareblaster, spyware guard and IE/spyad.

Thanks again for your help. I am hoping everything is off for now.

Welcome back, I combined your posts, please do not start new topics, rather stay in this same thread until we are finished. Thanks.

Looking at the Ewido scan first: Ewido had to quarantine some items, you will want to empty that quarantine folder in a few days to get those bad files off your computer. We will need to purge your system restore files as it looks like some of this junk is backed up in those files.
We also have a couple Error during cleaning messages. After we purge System Restore I want you to run the Ewido scan again this time in safe mode to see if we can get a clean report.

Your HJT log:
1) You will need to turn off Microsoft AntiSpyware like this:
Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

2) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

3) Follow these instruction to turn off, reboot then turn back on your System Restore files. This will give you all new SR files.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam

4) Run the Ewido scan in safe mode again: http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml Then post a new HJT log along with the Ewido scan results for a final check. Add any comments you think I should have.

I'm not sure if I know how to purge the System Restore. I did turn it off before I ran the Ewido Scan in safe mode. I also ran the hijack this in safe mode. Don't know if that makes a difference. When I ran the system scan only, I was able to fix the items in the list you gave me except for the file://c?\program files\ebates_Moe MoneyMaker\sy350\Tp350\scri350a.htm(file missing)(HKCU). I did not find that on the list.

Here are the two lists. It is soooo much better. I am not getting the pop ups and it cleaned two files that spybots was not able to do.

I am very grateful for your assistance.

Hello Hershey, This process is what I call purge for lack of a better word:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam

Here it is in manual instructions: This is for future needs

You always want to turn it right back on in case something happens and you need the restore point.

There is no problem using HJT in safe mode, in fact it does a better job, since none of the programs that may interfere are running. The only problem is that you must reboot before you run a new HJT log or you not show all the running programs which has occured in this case. Not to be concerned with the ebates item, Ewido probably killed it, sometimes it is removed from the log, sometimes not and I always do a double check. Let me look at the log now.

Your HJT log is clean  I will need to see one more log run in normal mode so I can be positive nothing is hiding in running processes. I also want to give you this link so you can check to make sure both Ad-aware and Spybot are the newest versions and configured properly: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php Here is a link to great tutorials, Ad-aware and Spybot are among them: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorials.html

Also any other suggestions on keeping these nusances off my computer? I do the window updates. I had spybots and just added adaware. I saw a few other suggestions - Spywareblaster, spyware guard and IE/spyad.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=3051
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict2520.html

Post that new log along with any questions you have and I will do my very best to answer them.

I want to add this great cleaning utility: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Just make sure you backup the registry as you will be prompted before you use the RegCleaner for safety.

Safe Surfing…Phil :wavey:
