I think I've been hijacked through a link from one of my friends on Trillian…clicked on it before I really even looked at it and now my computer is doing all kinds of crazy stuff. Please look and tell me! Thank you so much!

Ok, I did as you said. It seems to be running a little bit better but is still a bit slow. Did I miss anything? Thanks so much for your time! I really appreciate your help. :)

Do you use iTunes?

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe" /startup "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0500.dll"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\winnt\system32\elitejng32.exe

O4 - Startup: Trillian.lnk = C:\Program Files\Trillian\trillian.exe

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Do you know what aimstats is? If not, fix also
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [strmsgms] aimstats.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [strmsgms] aimstats.exe

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Use Add/Remove Programs and remove:
WildTangent
Trillian

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode

Press the F8 key, when you see the Starting Windows bar at the bottom of the screen.

Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

To configure Windows to show all files

Do the following:

On the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.

Do the following:

Uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Then, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show hidden files and folders.
If you see a warning message, click Yes.
Click Apply.
Click OK.

Search for and delete these files if listed:
C:\winnt\system32\elitejng32.exe

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY Listed Profile USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Yes, I do use Itunes, is this bad? Also, I use Trillian daily. Do I have to get rid of it? Is there no way I can keep these safely?
Hi, I did it all except for removing Trillian. Everything seems to be running fine now. I believe the virus came through AIM. I looked up a link a friend sent to my computer and found it was a virus on the internet. Anyway, here is my new log. Can you take a look at it and let me know if it looks all clear? Thank you sooo much!

They aren't bad. If you didn't use them, they are resource hogs and slow the PC down. But you do use them so leave them alone

Good Job

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

1.Do one of the following:
In Windows 98/Me/2000, on the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
In Windows XP, on the taskbar, click Start > My Computer.

2.Do one of the following:
In Windows 98, on the View menu, click Folder Options.
In Windows Me/2000/XP, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, check Hide file extensions for known file types.

3.Do one of the following:
In Windows 98, in the Advanced Settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, unclick Show all files.
In Windows Me/2000/XP, check Hide protected operating system files. Then, under the "Hidden files" folder, unclick Show hidden files and folders.
If you see a warning message, click Yes.
Click Apply.
Click OK.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
Great job

You're more then welcome.
Glad we were able to help

Peace be with you :wavey:
