My husband has so much going wrong on his computer I don't know where to turn. I ran Norton and I also have ran Ad-Aware Se, Spybot S&D, and Spysweeper. They delete the issue but it continues to come back. I have more than one thing wrong, the most common thing that comes up is mfcfc.exe and grtcukr. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is the Hijack this log……

thanks for taking a look if you need anything else please let me know.
Hello strawberriesncream, Darn nice thing you are doing, cleaning up Morgan's? machine. I see some adware that needs to go, but since you want to clean it up for him, let's proceed like this:

1) First thing I need you to know is that you are running HJT.exe from a .zip file in a Temporary Directory. We will loose our backups like this. We need a permanent folder, please use the information in the following links to fix this. It is important this is done before you proceed. Thanks.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial94.html
Note: This video tutorial requires Macromedia Flash to play.
http://www.spywareaid.com/index.php?file=svideo&id;=1

2) You said you ran Ad-aware/Spybot but are you aware both programs updated their versions very recently. Please follow these instructions. You would be better served if you were to use the most recent versions of Ad-aware and Spybot as they can get to places HJT cannot. Please use this link: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php to download, update, configure and run these two "big guns" and allow them to remove anything bad they locate. Both programs provide backups for your safety. ***note: please do not activate Spybot TeaTimer until your computer is clean. Run Spybot first and reboot between the scans. It is good to run both programs at least twice, and run the "Full System Scan".

3) Please download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

4) Ewido trojan scanner: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
  1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  3. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack….
  5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread.

  7. 5) You have two programs running that will stop our HJT fix, SpySweeper and SpybotSD TeaTimer. We will need to turn them off when we run HJT. Remember to turn your protection back on when you are finished.
You will need to exit SpySweeper, but I do have the TT instructions: http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

    6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.emachines.com/
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
(if you don't want this as a startpage, check it)
    O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.emachines.com
    O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://download.games.yahoo.com/games/popc…aploader_v6.cab
    ADW_POP.A

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log along with the information from the Ewido scan in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

    Cheers…pskelley

Hi Morgan :) Sorry I messed up the names :( Hope you will forgive me. Looks like Ewido was able to rid you of a lot of junk, most were spyware tracking cookies (data miners) and I am surprised Ad-aware and Spybot were not removing these. Perhaps updated they will but you know where to look for them now:
C:\Documents and Settings\Morgan\Cookies\
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\YPSR\Quarantine\ppq124.tmp
(appears the Yahoo toolbar removes and guarantines these cookies, empty that and all quarantine areas once you are sure nothing in there is needed. Ad-aware has a quarantine and Spybot has "Restore". Symantec will have a quarantine area also. This must be what Yahoo uses:

I am sure you are aware some cookies are necessary, as secure passwords require them an some VIP websites won't work without them.
I personally block them all and override the ones I need in Internet Explorer.

I see you are still running SP1, here is some information you will need when you consider the upgrade.

Malware can get into your System Restore files and back on your computer if you need to restore for a valid reason. I suggest you purge (turn off, reboot then turn back on) System Restore. This will clean all SR files a give you a fresh restore point.
