I have tried Microsoft Antispyware, Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware 6.0, Pal Spyware Remover, Spyferret and I don't know what else but it keeps coming back or was never really removed. I see from reading other post that this is not a new problem but sure is a pain for anyone who has it. Can you help me? Here is my Hijackthis log:

Ok well Adaware 6 is out of date now and no longer supported, so uninstall it. I'll give you instructions to download and install AdawareSE but the earlier version needs to be uninstalled first.

Download FxAgentB.exe fromhere and save it to your desktop. After downloading, double-click the FxAgentB file to run it and the program will scan your entire hard drive - this may take a while. When it is done, it will generate a log file called FxAgentB.log - save that information as you will need to paste it here later. Reboot when done.

Next click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'.

Then click here to download Ad-Aware SE and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Click "Start", select "Perform Full System scan" and "Next" to start the scan. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done, and post a fresh hijack log along with the FxAgentB log
I finished everything as per your instructions and here are the new log files.

and here is the FxAgentB log:

Symantec Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool 1.0.1.2

C:\System Volume Information: (not scanned)
G:\System Volume Information: (not scanned)
Backdoor.Agent.B has not been found on your computer.

I don't understand why this log says that the C and G drives were not scanned, did I do something wrong??
No you didn't do anything wrong.. I've known this happen a couple of times, I don't know why it does though. Because you C drive wasn't scanned we need to be doubly sure that you don't have the problem of a hidden dll before continuing, otherwise I will clean you up and then the problem will just re-occur! :(

1. Please download DllCompare from here

2. Start the Program with its default settings and put a check mark in the include subdirectories. Click the Run Locate.com and wait until the scan says complete.

3. Click the Compare button to start the next process.

4. Files in the upper portion have been verified to "exist", Files in the bottom section were not able to be accessed. Very few files should be listed in the bottom section when the Compare scan is complete.

5. Click on each of the listed entries in the lower section to select them. Right-click on the file and use the Option Rescan.

6. This will cause Windows Find to see if the file does exist, and then it will be removed from the list (to reduce the number of identified files)

7. Click the Make a Log of what was found button, and post the log here in this thread using Add Reply to receive further instructions.
OK that went well and here is that log. * DLLCompare Log version(1.0.0.125) Files Found that Windows does not See or cannot Access *Not everything listed here means you are infected! ________________________________________________ O^E says: "There were no files found :)" ________________________________________________ 2,313 items found: 2,313 files (1 H/S), 0 directories. Total of file sizes: 483,699,092 bytes 461.29 M Administrator Account = True ——————–End log———————
Oooh thats what I like to see… makes this a bit easier :)

Please copy these instructions to note pad as you will need to have your browser closed throughout the fix and you will also need to disconnect from the internet.

Enable viewing of hidden files and folders;

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Then boot into safe mode and find and delete this file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\fflm.dll

Still in safe mode, run hijackthis again, put a check against the following and click 'fix checked'

Reboot back to normal mode and run CWShredder once more, then post a fresh hijack log for review. I've got to go out now but will be back later on to see how you have got on! ;)
I followed all your instructions but didn't find any of the lines that were to start with HKCU. but I got all the rest of them and the new log follows. In the new log the HKCU lines do appear, how come?

Well it looks ok now apart from this

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://home.iwon.com/?v=1

Is iwon the home page of your choice? If not then fix the above, it is also showing up in your Mozzilla profile which is unusual

N3 - Netscape 7: user_pref("browser.startup.homepage", "www.iwon.com"); (C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\h4xajh2w.slt\prefs.js)

Empty your temp files by using disk cleanup

Go to Start>Programs>Acccessories>System Tools> Disk Cleanup and put a check mark beside all the entries in the disk cleanup window that ask you what you want to clean. Clean all hard drives and all files. This will get rid of any malware that is hiding in the temporary folders.

Here are some suggestions to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future. I strongly recommend installing the following :

Spyware Blaster - It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
Spyware Guard - It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
IE-Spyad - IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
I also recommend reading this article written by Tony Klein How did I get infected in the first place
You are welcome ;)
