Hi I'm having some issues which include random shortcuts showing up on my desktop. I also get a weird pop-up whenever I use Google. Also my browser (IE) goes inactive or becomes un-highlighted (best way I can explain it) while typing or just sitting there. This also happens with Outlook and some other apps that I use. I've got Norton AV which I've run. I also use Spybot S&D and Adaware on a regular basis. None of them detect anything but something's there. :angry: Thanks for any help! :D Shawn

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

Please download and run (latest version 1.4) Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware. Then follow the instructions in the links below to run.

Please do an online scan,

Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean".

Reboot and post a new HiJackThis log by clicking on "add reply" at the bottom right.

If any of the scans lock up please boot to safe mode and try them.

OK, ran CW Shredder and didn’t find anything.

Ran Spybot and found Exact Advertising. BargainsBuddy, ISearchTech. SideFind and Pacimedia. I let Spybot fix them.

Ran Adaware and found a bunch more stuff (none of which was there yesterday morning!). I let Adaware delete all of it.

Panda found 30 things but only cleaned a few of them.

So far so good. No more goofy popups when using google and windows now stay in focus. Thanks again for all your help!

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.
