Hi BillShar,

Please try and provide me with as much detail as possible about the problems you are having with your desktop. Is it only that it has the appearance of a '98 system?

Have you tried to change it manually?

Trevuren
Hi BillShar,

There are 2 things to try:

1. Right click on your Desktop>>Properties>>Theme and chose the theme that you want from the list (I think you are looking for Windows XP). Then OK.

2. Then right-click on your Desktop>>Properties>>Appearance and chose a style in the "Windows and Buttons" window. Click OK

Give this a try and keep me posted please.

HI Bill,

Try this in reverse:

Change the Windows XP Start Menu to the Classic Windows Theme
To change the Start menu to the classic Start menu: 1. In Control Panel, double-click Appearance and Themes.
2. Click Taskbar and Start Menu.
3. On the Start Menu tab, click Classic Start menu, and then click OK

Hi Bill,

You have nearly every infection under the sun here. AND i don't see any antivirus or Firewall. You have done any of tour Windows Updates either.

In addition, this does not appear to be the same machine as I worked on before. There are some critical entries that are not present here.

I am going to close this thread and request that you start a new thread.
