Thanks for posting the new log.

Persistent thing, isn't it. We're close though. Time to try a little trick :D

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager. End Task:

dacu.exe

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place check beside the following and Fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rzlamk.exe

Boot into Safe Mode.

Run RKFiles again.

Once it is done, search for and rename dacu.exe to dacu.old.

Reboot Windows normally. You will probably get a window popup asking what to open dacu.old with… just close the window.

Once back in Windows, run AgentRansack. Check expert user if it is not already checked.

Copy (Ctrl+c)/paste(ctrl+v) the following into the "Containing Text" field:

(Qoologic|Aspack|narrator)+

Copy the following into the "Look in" field:

C:\windows;C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Uncheck the box "Search subfolders"

Click "Start search"

Once the scan is finished please go to "File" (at the top of the screen) and click it. Select "Save results from the menu. Clipboard is checked by default. Leave it as it is. At the bottom of the screen under "Information" uncheck "Contents". Now click "Save". This copies it to your clipboard. Right-click in the reply area below the last log and paste that information into the post along with the new log created by RKFiles and a new HijakcThis log please.

Thanks!
Hijack log and RKFiles log. Agentran found no files during the scan so blank notepad. Also, when I ran task manager to "end task" for dacu.exe, it wasn't there running. I did find it in a scan and changed the file name though. THANKS!

Thanks for posting the logs.

Hang in there… you're doing good! :)

Print this out for reference during the fix.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager. End Task:

rzlamk.exe

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rzlamk.exe
O4 - Global Startup: dacu.old.exe

Disconnect from the internet… unplug the cable to your modem if need be.

Close all open windows and programs, then start Killbox. Put a check next to "Delete on Reboot", then copy this line in "Full
Path of File to Delete" box:

C:Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\programs\startup\dacu.exe

**If you get an error with this one, don't worry, move on to the next one.**

Click the red and white "Delete File" button.
Click "Yes" at the first prompt .
Click "No" at the second.

Repeat those same steps for each of these files one at a time:

C:Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\programs\startup\dacu.old
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrqop.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pybehrg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\quygb.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rzlamk.exe

When you've finished, exit Killbox.

Reboot Windows and post a new HijackThis log please.
You guessed it…the HJT we know and love. As w/ the last time w/ dacu.exe–rzlamk.exe did not show in task manager.

Wow… this thing is being nasty.. never had one this resistant before.

Question… do you recognize this line:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,AutoConfigURL = http://proxy.lib.utexas.edu/utexas.pac

Also can you see if you can run FindQoologic again… now that your system is cleaner than it was… maybe you'll be able to run it… would help lots.

Let me know please.
Ok, hopefully good news here. I think FindQoologic worked!! Maybe I had a bad download earlier when my computer was messed up more. I downloaded again from the link on your first post. Again I thank you for your assistance!! You are very very patient!! I do recognize the line provided. Allows me to access online library materials at my university. Thanks for posting the logs.

OK… you've been saying rzlamk.exe has been hiding from Windows Task Manager. Lets try this differently.

Print this out for reference during the fix. That or copy/paste it into Notepad.

Run HijackThis. Press the Open the Misc Tools button. Click the Open Process Manager button. Hilite C:\WINDOWS\System32\rzlamk.exe and press the Kill Process button. If you see C:Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\programs\startup\dacu.exe in the list, kill that process as well. Press the Back button in the bottom right hand corner of HijackThis. Press the Scan button.

With all other browsers and windows closed, even this one(this is important, the fix won't work otherwise), place a check beside the following and Fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rzlamk.exe

Disconnect from the internet… unplug the cable to your modem if need be.

Close all open windows and programs, then start Killbox. Put a check next to "Delete on Reboot", then copy this line in "Full
Path of File to Delete" box:

C:Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\programs\startup\dacu.exe

Click the red and white "Delete File" button.
Click "Yes" at the first prompt .
Click "No" at the second.

Repeat those same steps for each of these files one at a time:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\caqxrmo.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrqop.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pybehrg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\quygb.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rzlamk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll

When you've finished, exit Killbox.

Reboot Windows and post a new FindQoologic log along with a new HijackThis log please.

Thanks!
Ugh, we were on a roll there, but the FindQoologic tool didn't work this time. I've posted another HJT log however. If anything works out w/ Qoologic I'll post asap either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Actually, we might have it…. I don't see rzlamk.exe in your running process list.

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rzlamk.exe

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log please.
Bah… missed that dacu.exe was back and active.

OK… got yet another tool to try since FindQoologic is still giving your problems.

Download FindItXP. Extract the files to their own directory.

Boot into Safe Mode. Run RKFiles.

Reboot Windows normally. Browse to where you extracted FindItXP. Double click the FindNarrator.bat file. It should open up notepad with the FindNarrator log in it.

Post that log, the RKFiles log, and a new HijackThis log please.

Do this when you feel like it… I don't blame you if you want to rest a bit… this one has been difficult, to say the least :)

You've done good so far, don't get discouraged… this infection will die ;)
Findit, rkfiles, and HJT…I tried Qoologic again and a text box did appear but under the files found part, it was blank. Thank you!

OK….

Click Start>Run, type in regedit, hit Enter.

Browse to this Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\0b022844-9f67-4cc3-b26a-59547ed55894

Right click on that entry, choose Export. Name it ohhh…. filename. Save it to your desktop. Right click on filename.reg and select Edit from the menu.

Copy/Paste that into a reply.

Thanks!
As instructed…:) Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\0b022844-9f67-4cc3-b26a-59547ed55894] "StubPath"="C:\\WINDOWS\\System32\\caqxrmo.exe"
