No hijaks in the last 5 minutes. I will wait 24 hrs and report back again. * DLLCompare Log version(1.0.0.127) Files Found that Windows does not See or cannot Access *Not everything listed here means you are infected! ________________________________________________ O^E says: "There were no files found :)" ________________________________________________ 1,290 items found: 1,290 files, 0 directories. No hijacking in the last two days but a couple entries here look suspicious. What do you think? Also I notice that for a split second a tab in the tool bar will say "aurora" and then disappear. Is that a funcion of one of the spyware programs or is somthing else going on?
Thanks

I see we picked up a new nasty :rant2:

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Please do NOT run a scan yet.

Please run Notepad and copy the following text into a new file:

@ECHO OFF
cd %windir%
Nail.exe /FULLREMOVE
sc config SvcProc start= disabled
sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc
attrib -s -r -h nail.exe
attrib -s -r -h svcproc.exe
del nail.exe
del svcproc.exe
cd %windir%\system32
attrib -s -r -h DrPMon.dll
del DrPMon.dll
exit

Save the file to the desktop as remove.bat and make sure the "Save as type" field says "All files".

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on remove.bat. A window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Then please run Ewido security suite, and perform a full scan. Remove anything found, and please save the logfile from the scan, because I will ask you to post it here for me later.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pgijpe] c:\windows\system32\govarrd.exe

O20 - Winlogon Notify: IPConfTSP - C:\WINDOWS\system32\guard.tmp (file missing)

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
No hijacks yet but F2 - reg:system.ini…..\Nail.exe does not go away after hijack fix.

Should I buy Ewido it's log is under the Hijacks

Also please adivise do you recomend that I keep ewido?

You can wait until the trail period is up and deceide then.
Make sure you Update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.bat. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Post the log from the scan here for me.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
It looks like nail is gone. No hijacks in the last several days. Anything else I need to do? At one point in this process we allowed hidden files and another type of file to become visible. I want to revert that once we are done. Could you remind me how to do so?

Thanks

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
I followed your recomendations. I now have several layers of protection. Thank you for your help. I am going to make a donation to the site. Can you keep this thread open till Monday. I want to print it just in case I have the same problem again. Again thank you.
