Hi there-

New to site, I've read most instructions but please let me know if I need to do anything else. I keep getting a popup window titled UiPopUpHidden. How do I get rid of it? Here's my log:

Hello pdilorenzo, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help, please do this:
1) HJT.exe needs a folder. Return to here: C:\Documents and Settings\user1\Desktop\HijackThis.exe open the Desktop folder and point to a blank spot and RIGHT click and make a new folder called HJT. Move the HJT.exe and the log that should be there into the new folder. Backups for safety will also store there. Thanks.

2) This item is considered Optional, I would like to remove it. Please read about it here: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/MySearch.html

Look in Add Remove programs for MyBar or MyWay, if there uninstall it.

3) You have Microsoft AntiSpyware running and we will need to turn it off as it will block the fix HJT has to make. Here are the instructions:
To disable the program, follow the instructions below:
1.) Right click on the Microsoft Antispyware tray icon (a little red and yellow circle looking thing)
2.) Click on Security Agents Status (Enabled)
3.) Click on Disable Real-time Protection.

4) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

5) Open Hijack this and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser window, then click on "Fix Checked"

To be sure, RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore, locate and delete this folder if it is there:

C:\Program Files\MyWay\ >>> folder

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running now.

Hi, there-

I followed all your instructions (correctly, I hope) but I still sometimes get the popup when I try to shut down. My computer is also spontaneously shutting down and restarting and it sometimes freezes at the shutdown stage. Here is my current log:

Hello pdilorenzo, I must apologize as the notification system failed and I was not notified when you posted on April 11. I came across this fact during a routine check of open posts. Would you please go to the top and click on Track This Topic. It will tell you if your are subscribed, if not please do so. I will review this log and let you know how it looks:

I see nothing in the log Scan saved at 8:51:00 AM, on 4/11/2005 that indicates any problems. This is not to say that there may be something hidden that HJT does not see. If you want to try a deep scan, try the following free product and allow it to delete anything it locates, you may post the results and a new log if you wish since time has gone by: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

There can be a lot of reasons for startup and shutdown issues. One is if dust gets in the fans and causing overheating. Another would be if maintenance like defragging, etc. has not been done in a while. Here are a couple of links to information:

Last, check to make sure your Google popup blocker is configured and turned on. Click on Options on the Google line near the top and make sure the right boxes are checked.
