Looking for direction on how to get this off of my computer. I have read other entries on this problem and I still have not had any luck with permanent removal. I think I have it beat and about 2 hours later it reappears as my default browser and it also adds 7 sites to my favorites, none of which are appropriate for the family computer. I have run SpyBot, AdAware, and Hijack this and deleted anything that has VroomSearch reference. I have run another Hijack log.

Can anyone help?
Hello Kyle, Welcome to TomCoyote. If you still need help please follow these directions:

1) Please download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

2) RIGHT click on a blank spot of the Desktop and make a NEW FOLDER called HJT. Move HJT.exe and the log that should be there into that folder. Your backups for safety will also store there. Thanks.

3) SpySubtract may try to stop the HJT fix so you may want to turn it off while we do this.

4) Open Hijack this and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: ohb - {F0C08B30-BA30-4FEB-924B-2E250CF0697D} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\siq.dll
Adware.Begin2Search
(Weatherbug is adware)
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe (HKCU)
(I would not allow MM on my computer let alone in my "Trusted Zone")
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser window, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete this item if it is there:

C:\PROGRAM FILES~1\AWS\ >>> folder

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log along with any feedback you have.

Thanks…pskelley

It appears to be gone for now. Typically what happens is that in an hour or two, my browser gets changed back to Vroomsearch.com out of the blue. The unwanted sites in my favorites are still there. They come back everytime Vroomsearch shows up as my default browser. One other thing, I have four other users on this computer, do I have to do anything in their accounts to get this to stop for them as well. We want this to stop for all users, three of which are kids that should not be subject to what is coming up on there screenns.

Here is the new HJT file. My fear is that after a short time the junk will return, it has happened before.

Thanks for the help you are providing.
First, please follow my instruction to create a safe folder for the HJT.exe. Second, this log is clean. LOG #1 Third, any user can be infected, and it may not show up anywhere else except perhaps in a administrators log. I will have to see the log while signed in to each user. Please consider this first log Number 1, the balance of the logs please code them Log 2, Log 3, Log 4. and Log 5. Thanks…I have a little time to review these logs now is you wish to post them, I can't say the same about later in the day. pskelley
Here is Log#2 with all users logged on. I think I am making some progress, when I logged on to each user I did not get the usual pop-up XXX sites. Still holding my breath.

Hello Kyle, Appears you downloaded HJT again or something as now you are running it from a tempory zip directory. This is not safe as the backups if you need them can easily get deleted. Please follow the directions in the following link to properly place the HJT.exe. Thank you.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial94.html

Nothing in this log to indicate a problem, I still wonder if we would have been better off having each use sign in and scan and post their individual logs but maybe this will work. Here is what we will do. Please go here: http://www.ccleaner.com/ read the instructions carefully on the download page then download and run CCleaner. Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14

The above information if read and followed will go a long way towards keeping you clean and safe online. I will leave this thread open for a few days, see how things go.
