In a nutshell:

I launch Interent Explorer.
Yahoo.com (my home page) will load.
Another webpage ([removed]) loads in another window and then switches to another misc. window.
On occasion, Yahoo will load fine, but upon entering info in the "search box" and pressing 'enter', the above page (69.425.87.218) will load in another window and then direct me to popupsearches.com

I have McAfee running and Adaware (free version) and Aluria Anti-spyware (purchased). The latter two were installed after the problem began and they do not detect any problems.

Here is my log - any help would be appreciated.

Just some additional info about my problem. I have blocked certain IP addresses using the "Banned IP Address" feature in McAfee Firewall. I still get other windows popping up when searching with Yahoo and I also am seeing Green-Colored "links" thru-out all web pages viewed. When the mouse is passed over them, they say things like - "Best Movie", Best News", etc. So, although I have been trying to "nip" at this problem - I still need qualified help to clean my new computer of this stuff and to restore some calm when going to the internet. Thank you for your time and consideration. John M. Bedell
Hello John, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help I will give it a go. I am not familiar with the Aluria Anti-spyware, if it tries to stop the changes we must make with HijackThis you will need to turn it off until we are done. The link below this item will tell you a little about it.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
http://www.superadblocker.com/A/ABASA5JRP.EXE-1975.html

Please download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

Open Task Manager then under the Processes Tab end process on that item: ap9h4qmo.exe

Open Hijack this and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser window, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore, locate and delete this item:

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have.

Okay, here's the latest… The invasion of my new computer escalated to the point where I could no longer even get ON the internet! So, I was unable to follow your instructions! So, I decided to call Dell and plead my case and hope for a miracle. Fortunately since my computer is under 30-days old, I have very little data and files to worry about losing. Dell had me back-up the data I did want to keep on cd-r's and then had me "Restore" my computer to "new in box" status. Needless to say, all went well and aside from reinstalling a few programs again, I appear to be a-okay. Now, should I re-install Adaware and Spybot S&D for insurance sake? I plan on treading on the internet lightly as well as watching what files I choose to download. I have an idea of what caused this in the first place. Lastly, I would like to thank YOU for your assistance and for others who donate their time to this site. The frustration and worry that is caused by these computer problems is staggering and knowing there are folks out there who wish to help others is greatly appreciated and reassuring. I have received an education from this experience and that is the positive side of this. Best wishes and many sincere thanks. John M. Bedell Honolulu, Hawaii
Hi John, Sorry to hear you had to go to that extreme but very glad Dell was able to help you. Just purchased a new Dell as a playmate for another Dell and a Compaq myself. Since you are clean now this information from some of the most knowledgeable folks in the malware field will go a long way towards keeping you clean and safe online. They will answer all the questions you have about what is needed in the way of protection. Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
