Something keeps deleting my favorites list, and its a pain in the arse to try to find the links again and again. Ive run CWS and Spybot. Interesting thing about CWS is a little window popped up after i tried to open it, saying i had a form of CWS, so it would open in different text or soemthing, and then when it scanned, nothing showed up. Please help. Following is the latest HJT log.

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxand hitting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [STIMEM] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMEM.exe

Reboot, and delete the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMEM.exe
I didn't believe in reincarnation last time either!

Hi Darkcoaster,

The file that seems to be causing you problems seems to rename on reboot.

In your 1st log it was

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [STIMEM] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMEM.exe

In your second it is

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PEGACCJ] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PEGACCJ.exe

before we try anything else, try booting into safe mode run Hijackthis and have it fix the line in bold.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechGalleryRepair] C:\Program Files\Logitech\ImageStudio\ISStart.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechImageStudioTray] C:\Program Files\Logitech\ImageStudio\LogiTray.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PEGACCJ] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PEGACCJ.exe This line may well a have different random named file
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [LoadPowerProfile] Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [winmodem] WINMODEM.101\wmexe.exe

The lines above and below are there for reference, in your last two logs the random named problem file has been in that position in the log.

In safe mode you should be able to find and delete the offending file.
In case it is a hidden file.
To "unhide" hidden files and folders:
Launch My Computer from the Desktop Icon.
Select View, Details.
Select the Folders button.
Select Tools, Folder Options. Then select the View Tab. Select the Show hidden files and folders radio button is selected
and that the Hide file extensions for known file types check box is unchecked. Once this is done, select Apply and then
Like Current Folder (located near the top of the Folder Options box). Then select OK.

Once done report back with a fresh log.
