O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sp2chk.exe] sp2chk.exe

Reboot when done. If sp2chk is still there I will need an export of the registry key containing that bad entry.

Go to Start > Run, and paste the following into the box, then click OK:

regedit /e C:\run.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

That will export the contents of the Registry Machine Run key to a C:\Run.txt file

Do a copy and paste of the contents of the Run.txt file here.
sorry for not replying sooner, job has me busy.

here is there new log. seems like the sp2chk is gone…finally….hopefully

quick question, how would i go about getting rid of anything that is symantec related? i tried internet security a few months ago. first day it bugged out and locked me out, and never will i ever put it on my computer ever again. <_<

That looks OK now - how is it running?

To get rid of the symmantec entries, with only HJT running have it fix:

O23 - Service: IS Service (ISSVC) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\ISSVC.exe
O23 - Service: SAVScan - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan.exe
its running great. just one thing with IE. this happens only with a few links, but when i click on a link, the page comes up then closes itself. after clicking a few times it'll stay. i've also found a way to avoid it and just open the page and right click the new page, but when i do that it makes a sound like its trying to close it. really dont know what it is, i think it could be java related. also about java, i tried to d/l sun java and when i allow the activeX control on their site to run IE freezes up. other than that, computer is running alot better than before. any other ways to safeguard my computer besides McAfee antivirus, Ad-aware and windows security, that wont hinder performance? or is it all good?
Not sure what that is you are experiencing with IE.

To help keep you clean follow the recommendations in Tony's article here:

So how did I get infected in the first place?

Let me know if it is OK to close the topic.
errr dunno how else to explain what its doing. guess you'd have to see how its acting. i think i'll figure it out. thank you for the link go ahead and close the link
