Help! Something is causing a ton of popups on my even when internet explorer isn't running. Also, homepage has been changed to daosearch.com, and I can't change it back. This page also pops up with some new ad everytime I open up a web page. I've run Ad-aware a bunch of times today, but stuff still keeps coming up. Here's my logfile, don't know if I did this right. I appreciate any help you can offer!

Thanks very much for your help, Siggyx! I'm currently running the trend micro scan. My computer started getting blasted by popups in the middle of the scan just a few minutes ago and then IE closed, so I had to start it over. I don't know how far I'll get with this tonight, but I'll def. get back tomorrow morning… Thanks again for your help! I can't believe how fast I got a response!! :)
Well, I can't seem to get through the virus scans without the pop-ups causing IE to crash… :( I'm going to try again, but for now here's my latest hijackthis logfile:

Boot to safe mode (tap f8 while bioa loads) then scan with hijackthis and put a check beside these lines and then choose FIX. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lass] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lass.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysMemory manager] c:\windows\system32\mdms.exe Then while still in safe mode delete these files if present C:\WINDOWS\system32\lass.exe <<
Okey dokey, went into safemode and was able to delete the lass.exe file. Got an error message for the mdms file:

"Cannot delete mdms: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use."

But it's no longer in the logfile:

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
