Hello, I am having an extreme problem with adware/popups. As I am typing this post, I have closed 3 popup windows. I have tried spybot but it didn't help. At times the window header will say that the sending site is(offeroptimizer.com) and(bannerfarm..), etc. I really wish I could turn this intrusion off. This is a copy of my logfile. Thank You for any help.. Damase

Hi adelardjr. Run Hijackthis and go to the process viewer by going to Config, Misc Tools, Process Viewer, to unload all instances of the following running processes;
C:\WINDOWS\System32\uhfqgfn.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mzlhi.exe

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Netster

Now I need you to delete the following;

C:\WINDOWS\System32\mzlhi.exe << This file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\uhfqgfn.exe << This file

Download, install and keep updated, Spywareblaster from www.javacoolsoftware.com to help keep your system clean.

Reboot when done and post another log please.
:blink: Did all that you suggested. All I can do is try it and see if the popups calm down. Thanks for Your guidance.

Now find and delete it manually. If it will not delete, open hijackthis again and go to Misc Tools/Delete a File on Reboot and paste in C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe hit ok and follow the prompts.
I deleted that last exe file from Windows directory and also deleted an INI file that was of the same name. Thanks the popups have not reappeared. :D

Did you *fix* it with hijackthis too?

It may be an orphaned entry, but I will try to make sure that is what it is.

Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.
Hello Crunchie,
I went looking in the Windows directory and did not find the file. I ran HijackThis and it did not show up in the listing. I downloaded the program you mentioned and ran a listing with it. The results are below.

Could I have made the error of not re-running HijackThis after I deleted the file, thus sending you back a copy of the previous results?? Really sorry if I did that :scratch: Thank You again Crunchie
