ok lets try some more things,
open the task manager (hit ctrl-alt-delete)
click the thing that says "cpu" twice
this will list the processes in the order that they are using cpu cycles
Please list all of the cycles using over 10% of the cpu
EDIT: to do this, in the task manager, click on the processes tab first, then double click the list header named "cpu"
My ( ctrl, alt delete ) only brings up a close program box that only has 3 buttons
( end task , shut down , cancel )
There is no cpu button.
It lists the running programs.
( Thanks for sticking with it )
ok…. this is a wierd bug with windows
press ctrl-alt-delete,
then double click right at the very top of the task manager
this should show the rest of the task manager
I have no idea what you are saying….
Please do this:
1. follow the above instructions as best as you can. (try to get to the task manager)
2. When you get to the point where you are confused, press control and then double tap the button on the keyboard entitled "print scrn"
Then go to start -> run
type in: mspaint
Then click edit -> paste
Save the image somewhere
Then go to:
www.imageshack.us
You will see a box and then a button called browse.
Click on browse and then find the picture you saved
Then click "host it"
This will bring you to a new webpage
You will see a box that says "direct link to page"
Copy that link here so that I can see it
Thanks, wng
I think that the tab in Task Manager is called "Processes".
Click this and you will see column's called: Image Name | User Name | CPU | Mem Usage
when there,
click the thing that says "cpu" twice
this will list the processes in the order that they are using cpu cycles
Please list all of the cycles using over 10% of the cpu
You will know when you have done this because (normally) System Idle Process jumps straight to the top (as it indicates that it is using all the processor that isn't already used. it actually doesn't use any of your processor, just shows how much of your processor ISN'T being used)
N.B. I know my advice has already been posted but I did miss it until I was looking for the above quote.
If you still can't find the tab, have a look at the image that i've attached.
RGR,
Could you please confirm if you have found the correct tab which lists all the running processes (processes tab and NOT Applications)
It will look similar to the screenshot that i've attached below…
Please post back
