Hi markg. Ken545 is unable to reply for a few days, so I will be helping you now. Hope you do not mind.

Adaware is awaiting a reboot. Unless you have already done so, it may be prudent to do so now :).

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall Windows AdStatus if there.

Run Hijackthis and go to the process viewer by going to Config, Misc Tools, Process Viewer, to unload all instances of the following running processes;
s24temon.exe
rtubene.exe

Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32 and delete those two files manually.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows AdStatus] C:\Program Files\Windows AdStatus\WinStat.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yrslcxkj] C:\WINDOWS\yrslcxkj.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [37sX3pU] s24temon.exe

Now please delete the following;

C:\Program Files\Windows AdStatus<—-folder.

Reboot when done and post another log please.
:wavey: dear crunchie, thanks bunches for the guidance.

here's the latest log.
