Hello gammij and Welcome to Tom Coyote

I am going to look over your log and get back to you
as soon as I can.

In the meantime, do this,

* Go to MY CONTROLS/ EMAIL SETTINGS and
ENABLE EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS

* At the top of this post, click on TRACK THIS TOPIC

* Please reply to this post by clicking on the REPLY BUTTON
and not the NEW TOPIC BUTTON

* Your Hijackthis is a very old version. Please use the links at the bottom of my post to upgrade HJT to 1.99. It is a zipped file that will install by default in C:\PROGRAM FILES\ HIJACKTHIS and this is exactly where we want it to be for backup purposes.

* Please install the new version and post a fresh log please.

Ken545

gammij,

I am going to look over your log and will get back to you in the AM

Your HJT is the new version, but it needs to reside in its own folder. If we have to make changes to your system using HJT, it will create a backup and that backup will be lost when we clean out your temp files. You originally had it in the right folder, just an older version.:P

Do this,

Click on MY COMPUTER / THEN YOUR C: DRIVE, on the left there will be an option to MAKE A NEW FOLDER. Make a new folder and name it HJT or Hijackthis. Now scroll to the temp folder that you have HJT in and right click on HIJACKTHIS.EXE and select COPY, then scroll to the new folder that you just made, open it and click on PASTE. So when your done, your HJT program should reside in C:\ HIJACKTHIS\ HIJACKTHIS.EXE. Now you can go back to your temp file that HJT is in an delete it so there won't be any confusion.

Ken545
Hello Again gammij,

I would like you to download and install these two great Anti-Spyware programs.
Just follow the links at the bottom of my posts.

* Install Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3

* If you have the older version 1.2, remove it via ADD-REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Go to START/ CONTROL PANEL/ PERFORMANCE AND MAINTAINENCE/ ADD-REMOVE
PROGRAMS
scroll to that program and click on REMOVE.

* During Installation, just follow all the defaults.

* Go to MODE and click on ADVANCED MODE.

* Then to SETTINGS / IGNORE PRODUCTS and put a checkmark in DSO EXPLOITS.

* Then to SETTINGS / FILE SETS and take the checkmark out of USAGE TRACKS.

* Then to TOOLS/ HOSTS FILE and then on the top click
on ADD SPYBOT S&D HOSTS FILES.

* Then check for UPDATES.

* Then to Immunize. then up at the top by the GREEN SIGN, click on IMMUNIZE.

* Then go to the top to SPYBOT and run a FULL SYSTEM SCAN.

* Then to FIX PROBLEMS and fix all it finds.

Then RE-BOOT your computer.

AD-AWARE SE PERSONAL 1.05

If you have an older version of AD-AWARE You can remove via
the ADD-REMOVE PROGRAMS IN THE CONTROL PANEL

* During installation, follow all the defaults.

* Start the program and CHECK FOR UPDATES

* Take the checkmark out of SEARCH FOR NEGLIGIBLE RISK FILES

* Choose PERFORM FULL SYSTEM SCAN

* Run the scan

* When it is done, RIGHT CLICK ONE ONE OF THE ENTRIES/ SELECT ALL/ NEXT
and let it remove all that if finds.

Then RE-BOOT your computer.

It wouldn't hurt to run a free online virus scan , go here TrendMicro Housecall and put a checkmark in AUTO CLEAN

Then run HJT from it's new folder ( you have moved it to the correct folder haven't you ) :D and post a new log please.

Ken545

gammij,

Briefly, your log looks ok, your HJT is exactly where we want it to be., You have anti-virus software running and you upgraded to SP2, which is great.

Here is a great little program that will clean all the garbage out of your system. Download and install it, keep all the defaults that are set by the program and let it run to clean your system.

CCleaner

I want to look at your log a little more closely, will get back to you in the AM.

Ken545
Hello gammij,

Run HJT and put a checkmark in the following entries, close all open windows and browsers (Including this one ) and click on FIX CHECKED.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…/search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com

If you recognize this web page, then it's ok, if not then fix it also.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://cgi.verizon.net/bookmarks/bmredir.a…=6.1&bm=ho_home

Then run HJT and post a new log please.

Ken545

Hello Again gammij,

I have analyzed your log pretty closely and see no evidence of any Malware, Trojans or Viruses, if you did have one of these, it would explain why your system has slowed down or your browser crashes, but since you don't , the cause of your problem could be Software or Hardware related. You have to think back to any changes you made to your system , both hardware or software prior to this problem starting, and eliminate that program or hardware temporarily to see if that problem goes away. I noticed that your have SERVICE PACK 2 (SP2) installed, there have been some reported problems with that installation if not done properly. Were you ok prior to this installation. If you were, you can uninstall it via the ADD-REMOVE programs from the CONTROL PANEL, and seek some expert advice about reinstallng it.

* Keep your ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE up todate and run a scan on a regular basis.
* Run the online scans as well
* Keep Spybot Search and Destroy up todate and run the scan on a regular basis.
* Run AD-AWARE also.
* Download and install SPYWARE BLASTER, no scan to run, but check for updates and enable all protection, it will sit in the background keeping all the bad guys out.

Since Tom Coyote is for the removal of Malware and Viruses, I can not help you any further. I am going to give you links to a couple of great Tech Support sites that speciize in Sotware and hardware problems.

You can run your PC through some testing at the Pit and then join the Forums and post your questions.
http://pcpitstop.com/

A couple of other good sites.

Good luck with your problem and thanks for using Tom Coyote.
