Computer Running Very Slooooooooow

I'm not sure what's wrong with my computer. It's a P4 2.53GHz w 512 Mb Ram. It's been running very slow. I've tried Spysweeper and Adaware. They clean my system but it doesn't seem to help much. Has anyone heard any bad things about Panda Software? It seems ever since our network manager installed that on our systems our computers have been running much slower.

Anyway…I ran Hijackthis and this is my logfile. Any help would be very much appreciated!

* Go to MY CONTROLS/ EMAIL SETTINGS and put a checkmark into ENABLE EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS

Hello Again murfeezlaw,

Please note the links at the bottom of my post that will take you to many free tools that you can use to clean and protect your computer.

Please run HJT and put a checkmark in the following entries, close all open windows and web browsers and click on FIX.

Then reboot into SAFEMODE, reboot your computer and as it is about to start up, click rapidly on the F8 key (Do not hold the key down as it will give you a keyboard stuck key error message) This will bring up a menu, use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll to SAFEMODE then click on the ENTER BUTTON


Then while in SAFEMODE go to MY COMPUTER open up your C: Drive and go toTOOLS/ FOLDER OPTIONS/ VIEW/ and put a checkmark in SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.

Now go to….

C:\WINNT\system32\irgkyxo.dll <–Delete this file

Then you can reboot normally. You can as another good option download and install SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY 1.3

> During Installation, just follow all the defaults.

> Go to MODE and click on ADVANCED MODE.

> Then to SETTINGS / IGNORE PRODUCTS and put a checkmark in DSO EXPLOITS.

> Then to SETTINGS / FILE SETS and take the checkmark out of USAGE TRACKS.

> Then to TOOLS/ HOSTS FILE and then on the top click on ADD SPYBOT S&D HOSTS FILES.

> Then check for UPDATES

> Then Immunize. then up at the top by the green sign, click on IMMUNIZE.

> Then go to the top to SPYBOT and run full system scan.

> Then to FIX PROBLEMS and fix all it finds.


Then reboot your computer, run HJT and post a fresh log please.

**** Did you run the latest version of AD-AWARE SE PERSONAL, see my link at the bottom of my post for the latest version.

**** I noticed that you are running Panda Anti-Virus software, I also noticed that you have an entry for Mcafee in your HJT log. It is not a good idea to run two anti-virus programs, they will at times conflict with each other and cause you problems. If you uninstalled Mcafee, make sure that you did a clean uninstlall to remove it all.

Hi Ken,

Thank you very much for your time. I appreciate it and the suggestions. I did everything you said and reran HJT. The computer is still quite sluggish. Do you know of any good diagnostic softare tools that might be able to detect a HW problem? Again thank you for all your help.

Hang in for a little while, I am going to look over your log again. Briefly, I don't see anything wrong as far as a virus and such, but I am going to re-analyze it.

If I don't see anything wrong, I can direct you to some excellent tech support sites that specialize in Hardware and Software problems.

I really don't see any evidence of a Virus or Malware on your computer. You can go here and download the CC Cleaner. It does a good job of cleaning out all the crapola on your system.

It seems ever since our network manager installed that on our systems our computers have been running much slower.


Hard telling what all the network manager installed. Any Anti-Virus program will slow things down. You do have other things loading that might not be needed. You might have him look at programs that are running on your system that are not needed.

You can try these two excellent sites for Hardware and Software support. I'm sorry I can't help you any further as Tom Coyote is just for Malware and Virus problems.
