I have run Spybot which lists 5 problems, but doesn't fix them. I unistalled Adaware 6, which didn't detect the problem and installed Adaware SE, which did detect the problem as "9 critical objects" and supposedly removed them…however Spybot still detects them….here is the list from Spybot…followed by hijackthis logfile…what needs to go? And what exactly are these DSO's? Thanks!

Hello maineac, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. As long as you keep your Critical Updates current, you need not concern yourself with the DSO Exploit notification. See this link: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/36.html
Your log is fine, :) keep up the good work, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online.

I personally suggest, running Ad-aware and Spybot to catch trash that does slip in, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and IE-Spyad to stop the stuff at the door, then of course antivirus software and a firewall. Remember, if they are not kept updated they will not protect you.
Thanks…pskelley

Hey, pskelley, thank you so much for your help. I usually struggle successfully through these things by myself, but this one I didn't even understand. I took a quick look at the websites you suggested and see that they will be of major help to me…and I will send them along to a friend who needs them! Thanks again!
Glad we could help.
