I am still having problems with system performance. System is really slow (I am on DSL 1.5 download 700 upload. I am also having problem with my email. My email does not work properly until I change the incoming mail server to pop.valornet.com but when I log off and back on it returns to 127.0.0.01. I have turned off my AV and Spam gaurd (using McAfee suite) and still get this problem.
Hi Candi, Welcome to TomCoyote.com. You must have gotten missed, so many log are coming in. I will see if I can help you, not sure about your problem, but let's clean up your bad items and see what happens. This log is two weeks old, I need to see a new one but I will remove some stuff first. If something is missing the old log could account for it.
You have some rough looking McAfee stuff "GUARDDOG" if anything tries to prevent what we are removing you will have to turn it off until we are done. Thanks.

Please check the information in the links, LimeWire is know to contain spyware, there are free alternatives that are free of bad stuff. Look in Add Remove programs and uninstall LimeWire if it is there.

ALCXMNTR.EXE
bwgo0000def6.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore, locate these files and delete them:

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\bwgo0000def6.exe >>> file
Candi, what I want you to do here is delete everything in this TEMP folder, NOT THE FOLDER, just the contents, the bad item above will go with the rest.

C:\Program Files\LimeWire\ >>> folder

C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\ >>> folder

C:\PROGRAM FILES~1\Toolbar\ >>> folder

C:\WINDOWS\ALCXMNTR.EXE >>> file

Empty all TEMP folders while you are here:
Locate the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\ folder and delete the contents of it. NOT THE FOLDER

Look for this folder if it is there: C:\Temp\ if it is, delete the contents of the Temp folder NOT THE FOLDER

If any of these Temp folders has lots in it, click on Edit at the top then Select all, then delete.

Clean Like this: Start, Run type "cleanmgr" without the quotes then ok. Check and remove anything windows locates.
Empty the recycle bin and restart the computer. Use Add Reply, stay in this thread and post a new log along with any feedback you think we should have.
Thanks…pskelley

I am leaving Limewire for now. That is something my husband installed and he is out of town for now, when he returns I will ask him about removing it.

Hi Candi,

Thanks for the help.

You are certainly welcome, there is an item we must take care of before we are done. Then I will have some great information to keep you clean and safe.

I am leaving Limewire for now. That is something my husband installed and he is out of town for now, when he returns I will ask him about removing it.

That is fine, this is suggested removal only. Just in this case I fear it is not a question of rather it contains malware or not. Just show your husband the information and make him aware of safe anternative and you will have done a good job. :)

Somehow this item got missed and it is a bad item that must be removed.
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\bwgo00008869.exe
There is a good chance it is a trojan. HijackThis can't remove it. You can try this, look at where it is in the log so when it is gone you will know.
Click on Start, then Search, then Files and Folders. Type bwgo00008869.exe into the line and search, if it locates it click on it to highlite it, then click delete. If it seems to work, then look at a new log to see if it is gone.
This item should have been deleted when you emptied the temp folder in Documents and Setting? Did you get a message that it could not delete it? That is important because it means it is running and that process must be stopped first.

If you wish another try from the Documents and Settings folder, then do this:
Open HijackThis, then click the "Open the Misc Tools" section. Under System Tools click on the Open process manager button. Carefully locate the item and click it to highlite then click on Kill Process. Follow any instruction that occur.

You can then Open the Windows Explorer and find the Documents and Settings folder. Open the folder, and locate the TEMP folder, open it and find the file (bwgo00008869.exe) highlite and delete it. I would like you to also delete anything else in that TEMP folder. NOT THE FOLDER just the contents.

I would like to purge the System Restore files to make sure nothing bad is hiding there that would get back on your computer if you had to do a System Restore for some reason. Follow these instructions:

MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SYSTEM RESTORE
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Now empty the recycle bin, post a new log for me, I want to be sure that item is gone.

Thanks…pskelley
