Hello again"Greggwith3G"

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

(1).
Scan your system, these free on-line scanners (note: some spyware have been known to disable PC based AV scanners): ("Do Both, No Harm")
http://housecall.trendmicro.com
or
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co…n_principal.htm
Always remember to allow the Program to "Fix", RE-BOOT, after each Scan.

(2).
Open My Computer and choose Tools, Folder Options; click on the View tab and under Advanced, choose Show Hidden Files and Folders. Also uncheck the options for "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide protected operating system files". OK your way out again.

(3).
Start > Run and type CLEANMGR. Click OK and when presented with a list of options, check the following boxes: Temporary Internet Files, Temporary Files, Recycle Bin and click OK.

(4).
Go here for free Online Trojan scan at http://www.trojanscan.com
If there should be anything found that it couldn’t clean, please WRITE DOWN the FULL PATHS AND FILENAMES.

(5).
Reboot your PC, this time into safe mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded.

(6).
CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS then Scan with Hijack This and put checks next to all the following, then click "Fix Checked"

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: BTGrabObj Class - {00000000-F09C-02B4-6EC2-AD0300000000} - C:\WINDOWS\BTGrab.dll

O2 - BHO: IE Update Class - {5B4AB8E2-6DC5-477A-B637-BF3C1A2E5993} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\sysupd.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop Search] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ffis] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe

O4 - Global Startup: APC UPS Status.lnk = ?

O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll

(7).
Then while still in safe mode delete these folders and/or files:(If they still exist)

C:\WINDOWS\BTGrab.dll<
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\sysupd.dll<
(8).
Reboot to regular mode.
Remove contents of Temporary folders.
This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others. If you had trouble deleting a file, reboot into Safe Mode and follow this step again. You should now be able to delete all the files.

Do this same process for %windir%\temp.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

(9).
Please check your version of Weatherbug, old versions were loaded with malware.
http://www.pchell.com/support/weatherbug.shtml

(10).
Create a new Restore Point. (Right Click on Control Panel, then Properties, then System Restore, Put a check in TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE.)
Reboot to regular mode when finished troubleshooting.
Then redo steps to create new Restore Point.

(11).
Reboot to regular mode. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS.
Please run and repost a new HJT log in your reply to this post.
We will need to check your LOG again…Marty ;)
Thanks for the helpful info and quick reply! Here's where things stand: Panda found 5 infected files and was able to disinfect 4 of those. XP SP2's popup handling kept me from seeing details on the one that couldn't be cleaned. Trend Micro's scan crashes my computer to a blue screen (I caught a glimpse of a file name "delprot.sys") and then a restart. So, I'm rerunning the Panda scan with popups allowed - I assume I need to resolve the file it couldn't clean before I move ahead? Many thanks.
My mistake on interpreting Panda results. Panda found instances of Trj/Downloader.GK virus - I deleted the 2 infected files that it couldn't disinfect. Trojanscan found no infected files. All other steps went fine - Weatherbug (version 5.03) fails to uninstall, however. Now, my AOL program is able to run (victory!) but I still get popups in IE, including xlime. Here's my log, and thank you again:

Open My Computer and choose Tools, Folder Options; click on the View tab and under Advanced, choose Show Hidden Files and Folders. Also uncheck the options for "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide protected operating system files". OK your way out again.

(2).
Start > Run and type CLEANMGR. Click OK and when presented with a list of options, check the following boxes: Temporary Internet Files, Temporary Files, Recycle Bin and click OK.

(3).
Reboot your PC, this time into safe mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded.

(4).
Please go to ADD/REMOVE Programs and Unistall ErrorGuard (This is a Spyware remover of dubious repute)

(5).
Do a CTRL/ALT/DEL a stop Spy Sweeper from running.(This program will stop all fixes by HJT.)

(6).
CLOSE ALL OPEN WINDOWS AND BROWSERS except HJT, then Scan with Hijack This and put checks next to all the following, then click "Fix Checked"

O2 - BHO: ZServObj Class - {00000000-C1EC-0345-6EC2-4D0300000000} - C:\WINDOWS\ZServ.dll

O2 - BHO: Band Class - {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E} - C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Win Server Updt] C:\WINDOWS\wupdt.exe

(Do you know what this is, if not, include in fix.)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yybdzh] C:\WINDOWS\system32\bebuzm.exe

(7).
Then while still in safe mode delete these folders and/or files:(If they still exist)
C:\WINDOWS\ZServ.dll< C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll< C:\WINDOWS\wupdt.exe<
(Do you know what this is, if not, include in fix.)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bebuzm.exe<

(9).
Create a new Restore Point. (Right Click on Control Panel, then Properties, then System Restore, Put a check in TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE.)
Reboot to regular mode when finished troubleshooting.
Then redo steps to create new Restore Point.

(10).
Reboot to regular mode. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS.
Please run and repost a new HJT log in your reply to this post.

We will need to check your LOG again…Marty ;)
Things are definitely better! AOL is still good, and IE doesn't appear to get popups anymore. For the first 5 minutes or so after booting, IE lets me click links but won't respond to web sites I enter in the address bar. It also hangs if I click the drop-down arrow to the right of the address bar. However, after 5 minutes or so, everything seems good!

I followed your most recent set of steps. In step 7, there was no systb.dll but there was a systb.exe. I left it alone. Also, I have uninstalled both ErrorGuard and Spy Sweeper.

Here's my latest log - thanks once again for all of your help!

Hello again"Greggwith3G"

(1.)
Please do a search, then if present, Delete this file systb.exe

(2.)
Please check your version of Weatherbug, old versions were loaded with malware.

If you want it totally removed, we will advise on the procedure.

Your HJT LOG is CLEAN, GREAT JOB

(3.)
A Trojan scan would be helpful at this time, please download a trial version of Trojan Hunter from TROJANHUNTER TRIAL and run it to remove any traces of Trojans

(4.)
A2 squared is an onboard trojan scanner that is installed much like spybot/ad-aware but handles trojans. Nice to add to your armor if you wish.
Download and install A2 squared free Trojan scanner
Run and activate your free version with A squared and then select
Scan your computer for malware infections .
Then select any/all drives.
Finally Scan selected folders.

(5.)

Let us KNOW How your MACHINE acting NOW?

Glad we were able to help……MARTY :D
Thanks for these latest recommendations and references! At this point, everything is working normally, with one small Internet Explorer exception: for the first five minutes or so after boot-up, IE shows my home page, allows clicks on the home page's links, and allows clicks from History. But, it does nothing with a website I enter directly in the Address Bar, and it hangs altogether if I click on the down-arrow next to the address bar to view recently visited sites. After those five minutes, all is well. I doubt this last issue is anything to trouble the forum with further. THANK YOU Marty for such great advice and your willingness to stick with me on this! I am now a HUGE believer in the forum. Take care.
