Thank you…

Go here, download the FindItNT-2K-XP.zip and extract the files from the zip. Navigate to the Find It NT-2K-XP folder and double-click on find.bat. A command prompt will open and it will search your computer for malicious files. Once it has finished a Notepad window will pop up with output.txt. Copy the entire contents of output.txt into your next post.

Don't reboot from now on unless I instruct it otherwise this pest will morph.
Daemon: Thanks for responding. Here is the Fint It NT scan results: Warning! This utility will find legitimate files in addition to malware. First click here to download LSPFix. Extract the program from the zip file and run it, make sure you click the "I know what I'm doing" button. Select aklsp.dll and using the right-pointing 'arrows' and move all instances of aklsp.dll it mentions to the Remove (RHS) side but leave everything else (it might already be over there when you open LSPFix). Repeat for calsp.dll. Click the 'Finished' button (if you exit with the X at top right nothing happens).

Next, click here, for instructions on how to enable hidden files and folders to be visible. After enabling, find, zip and send this file:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\srvany.exe

to this e-mail address including a link to this thread in the body of the email.

Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.

Start Killbox and click on Tools->Delete Temp Files.

When that finishes, copy and paste each of the following lines into the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each. Keep track of any files it tells you either could not be found or could not be deleted, as you'll need those later:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pgplpq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qpqlqa.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kykvkg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vqvwvk.dat
C:\documents and settings\dave\local settings\temp\1uuXkK.exe
C:\Program Files\SED\SED.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe

For the files that it either couldn't find or couldn't delete, in the killbox again this time, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.

When it reboots, with only HJT running, have it fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [1uuXkK] C:\documents and settings\dave\local settings\temp\1uuXkK.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SESync] "C:\Program Files\SED\SED.exe"
O23 - Service: ZESOFT - Unknown - C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe (file missing)

Please post a new HJT log and Findit log again.

Thanks again for your help!

Still got Qoologic in there.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\azaian.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pgplpq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qpqlqa.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kykvkg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vqvwvk.dat
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\Programs\Startup\nynkni.exe

For the files that it either couldn't find or couldn't delete, in the killbox again this time, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.

When it reboots, please post a new HJT log and Findit log again.

Did you send that file?

FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I DID SEND THAT FILE (zipped "srvany.exe") TO YOU THIS MORNING.

Thanks again!

Regards, Dave
Thanks - I've got that file now. With only HJT running fix these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Narrator] C:\WINDOWS\system32\kykvkg.exe
O4 - Global Startup: strings.exe

Reboot and that is the end of that pest. I'll get back to you about that other file after I have checked it.
Daemon: I was away for a while… Missed your post. Anyway, it seems to be running fine again. No pop-ups and when I search, I actually go where I wanted to go (vs. being redirected). I ran Adaware again and only got 7 critical objects… and they were all cookies! 1st time that's happened in a L O N G time… I will give it a few days and make certain nothing sneaks back. But, I want to THANK YOU for all your help. I could not have gotten this crap off my system without you! Thanks again… You REALLY know your stuff! Best regards, Dave
You're welcome - glad to help :D

To help keep you clean follow the recommendations in Tony's article here:

So how did I get infected in the first place?
