Older computer running slow. Windows 98 Second Edition AMD 3-D Processor 64 MB RAM Computer running very slow and not running programs used before. Do not have the Windows 98 disc. I think some windows programs may be missing.

hmm.. whats the system tray look like? are there alot of icons in it?

there are 4 icons in the system tray: Sound control, Window washer, aol, and an AVG control center

how long has been since you ran maintinance on it?

In addition to all the others that replied - make sure you follow the link:-

things like spyware/malware/ defrag and ram all play a big part in system performance. Also run 'system file checker' start programs/accsessories / sytem tools/ system information / SFC, and see if any of your windows files are missing or corriupted.
