Hi..

I'm suffering from lots of adware and spywares; I used Adaware and ETD Security scanner and got rid of many, but a few I can't delete no matter what!!
I'm desperate; please help!

I'm suffering from 4 things:

1. searchmiracle.com home page default that I can't get rid of
2. something called "search bar" coming on the left side of my IE whenever I type something in a search box
3. EliteBar in IE
4. Some porn thing called InstantAccess which is on the system tray

Here's my HiJackThis log file:

Thanks in advance.
Hello prmnnt_trz, welcome to the TC.

I suggest you do this: Copy this to notepad or print it out.

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Use Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Dap and EliteToolBar

Open C:\dpvll.exe <–Delete File
Open C:\windows\system32\winrgz32.exe <–Delete File
Open C:\windows\system32\kalvfaa32.exe <–Delete File
Open C:\WINDOWS\System32\explorer32.exe <–Delete File

If DAP won't delete with Add/Remove Programs, then

Find the program and delete the folder:
C:\PROGRA~1\DAP <–Delete Folder

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I THINK I've done all you said. I had also ran some other Ad/Spyware removal programmes after posting that log; therefore some of the entries were not present.

I've done all these things. Now everything seems to be in perfect shape. Here is my new log, though:

Cheers,

Eren
You need to update both Windows XP and Internet Explorere as they are both well behind in updates. They are both missing Service Pack 1 which is leaving you open to all kinds of problems.

I DO NOT suggest you go to Service Pack 2, at this time.

Service Pack 1 for XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa…p1/default.mspx

Service Pack 1 for Internet Explorer.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downlo…p1/default.mspx

After that, copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
The reason I didn't have Service Pack 1 was that its download had previously failed in my computer.
I tried it again and this time I think it worked even though in my Windows Update download history my 1st failure is still seen and there is not a successful Service Pack 1 entry.
If it did work properly, though, it must also have featured the Service Pack 1 for IE.

As you said, I haven't downloaded Service Pack 2.

GREAT job

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
Hey, Thanks very much for all the help. Everything seems to be working just fine now. Hope I can keep up the condition (or keep other users of my computer from ruining it again :P). Cheers, Eren
