This is my first post ever, ...anywhere. I'm really not sure where to start, except that I'm thankful for communities like this one to balance out the ever so frustrating road blocks we encounter in simply trying to use our computers. So thank you in advance. I'm entering this post in at work because my home computer (Dell from 2 ys. ago) won't allow me access to IE after 2 minutes of navigation. If needed, I'll try an post a hijck this log or adaware log from home. My computer has had a whole bunch of problems over the last few months. I have Ad-Aware SE, Spy Sweeper, Norton Anti-Virus, and Hijak This, and Search and Destroy as of last night. I clearly have lop.com malware on my system which is found by Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper (webroot) but which installs itself right back onto my system after deletion. Also, I am unable to gain access to the internet via IE after only a few minutes at which point I am directed to res://c:windows/system32/shdoclc.dll/pagerror.gif a page that says "this page cannot be found" - or something to that tune - under which I see a bunch of different categories like Casino, Financials, Internet, etc... When I run my curser over these categories, I see links to various search200.com sites. So those are the two most difficult issues - lop.com and this inability to...well to use the internet at home! I also have rediculous desktop items that appear out of no where - tool bars that appear at the top of my screen and the bottom. Home Pages that I never chose..., and even more strange things like Norton Anti Virus apparantly being hacked into or something, because if I leave the computer for a few hours sometimes my norton anti virus (2005) has had the worm firewall disabled. The very last thing is ...what are packets? and how many should be sent vs. received? Thank you so much in advance for this help. I've already spent over 100 bucks on anti-virus software / anti-adware software, and countless nights leaving my poop girlfriend alone in the other room while I try and solve these problems. DCG

Greetings and welcome to TomCoyote.org!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Download HijackThis into this folder.

Click "Scan".

You've got a LOP infection, along with some unidentified malware executable.

First, go to:

Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and remove any/all of these (if found):

Window Search
Window Searching
Lop.com
LOP SEARCH
Browser Enhancer
Ultimate Browser Enhancer

You may be given a code to insert, do so and reboot after removing.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Scan".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

So I did everything you said, although I couldn't find the sysy32.exe file. I looked for it where you said it would be, and then I did a full scan of the c drive and still couldn't find it. Heres the new log...thank you so much..

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.
